This 30ml glass bottle of Jacques Herbin Perle Noire black fountain pen ink is elegantly labeled and has an integrated pen rest. Jacques Herbin ink is non-toxic and pH neutral, water based, flows smoothly, and uses all natural dyes.

Ink is great, not super black but will do any job you want within reason. A little wet in writing, I have it in an Extra Fine TWSBI Eco that I carry with me every day.

Excellent Writing ink

This is a lovely black color, rich but not shiny. Also it does well in ink sketches and washes. Glad I chose it!

Great Black!

I put this ink in a BENU Talisman Edelweiss with a broad nib and it is wonderful! It flows very well and doesn't bleed through on Rhodia paper. It's a nice dark black and looks great. I will be using this ink a lot more. I might even buy the 100 ml size when I finish with this bottle.

Ink Review From a New Fountain Pen User

I'm new to fountain pens, and wanted to buy a basic, classsic black nk with some history to the brand for my first ink. It dries extremely fast on Black n' Red Optik paper when written with a Pilot Metropolitan with a medium nib (the pen really writes more of a fine line). There's no bleedthrough, pooling, nor usually any ghosting or echo. The color is pretty, and a useful, plain black, but I was hoping for more color saturation. It does seem to dry in the nib or feed fast, and I do have some skipping and hard starts -- though how much of those last three is from the ink, how much is from the pen, and how much is from user error by a new fountain pen owner is up for debate. The box and the bottle itself are beautiful and elegant-looking. The bottle has a pen rest, which is a very nice touch, but it looks small for most pens. Also, this is just a personal quirk, but I really like things symmetrical, and because of the pen rest, the bottle isn't which kind of mildly bothers me. I may decide to always keep a bottle of this or another J. Herbin ink on hand, but ultimately, I think I'll try to use either a lubricated ink or a more water-resistant ink, depending on my intent for regular, daily use, ideally one with a bit more color saturation. Overall, it's a nice ink, though.
