Following Virgilio and Caronte, Visconti continues its journey through Dante’s Divine Comedy with Paolo & Francesca, opening a new chapter in the Comedia collection dedicated to the most profound and universal force of human experience: love. Paolo and Francesca are among the most celebrated figures in Dante’s work.

Lovers in life, they were killed by Francesca’s husband - who was also Paolo’s brother -after being discovered together. For this reason, Dante places them in the second circle of Hell, among the lustful souls swept away by a passion stronger than reason. Condemned to be carried forever within an endless storm, they remain united for eternity, symbolizing a love that endures beyond sin and death.

In this edition, Paolo and Francesca are brought together in a single writing instrument, evoking the eternal and inseparable nature of their bond.

The resin body is distinguished by a fluid interplay of red, purple, blue, and white, evoking love, desire, and sin. The red of Francesca and the blue of Paolo merge into a deep violet, emphasizing their eternal union and creating once again a detail rich in meaning. Their names, engraved and enameled on the central ring, further seal this bond with a discreet yet deeply symbolic gesture. Each piece is unique, thanks to the natural variations of the material.

Gold metal trims illuminate the composition, enhancing its elegance and creating a harmonious dialogue between light and color. A subtle balance that reflects the emotional tension of their story, suspended between love and damnation.

This pen is limited to 999 pieces. Each pen is individually numbered on the back of the clip.

A converter is included, and it also accepts standard international short and long cartridges. It also features Visconti's steel nib (the same as on the Visconti Mythos) that is plated to match the trim.

We do our best to photograph the pens to show how they will appear in person, but due to the nature of the material, there will be some variation in the pattern seen here. This adds an element of uniqueness to the pen, with no two patterns being exactly the same. We cannot honor special requests.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use this pen with ink cartridges? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A cartridge is small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write!

This pen uses standard international ink cartridges, a common size which is available in many colors from various brands.

You can learn more about how to actually install an ink cartridge on our blog, or in this video tutorial:

How do I use a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go. From there, you can fill your fountain pen from bottled ink.

A converter is a detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter.

We have a great video showing how to use a converter here:

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.
