Firth Blue is an elegant fountain pen design in the Tom Hessin Edinburgh Collection, inspired by the Firth of Forth which is a stunning estuary on the coast of this historic area of the city and Tom Hessin’s original Edinburgh Pen from the archives. The smooth wooden pen barrel has a unique finish, made from real wood and reflective of the blue waters of the Firth of Forth.  Each natural wood barrel is beautifully offset by the modern chrome trim accents.

The Firth Blue fountain pen is complete with a tapered wooden barrel and stainless steel JoWo nib, offering a smooth lay down of ink on the page. Each nib is protected by a satisfying push close cap, complete with attractive band featuring the Tom Hessin logo. Adorning the cap is chrome clip that features the five diamond detail and is emblematic of the five generations that span the Tom Hessin legacy.

Each Edinburgh pen is presented in a stylish Tom Hessin box, and includes pen card leaflet, ink cartridge and converter. Backed by a two-year mechanical warranty, the Tom Hessin Edinburgh collection will help you make a lasting statement.

Note: This pen comes with an ink cartridge stored in the body. If it doesn’t fall right out, you can get it loose by giving the body a few solid taps on a hard surface.

We do our best to photograph the pens to show how they will appear in person, but due to the nature of the material, there will be some variation in the pattern seen here. This adds an element of uniqueness to the pen, with no two patterns being exactly the same. We cannot honor special requests.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go. From there, you can fill your fountain pen from bottled ink.

A converter is a detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter.

We have a great video showing how to use a converter here:

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.
