Pilot Metropolitan Fountain Pen - Retro Pop Purple, Fine is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely lives up to the hype The Metropolitan is recommended as a first fountain pen on almost every list I've found, and I'm very glad I chose it as mine. The fine nib is perfect for my small handwriting, but glides across both my Rhodia pad and an inexpensive journal I'm fond of. I've filled it with J Herbin's Poussiere de Lune ink and couldn't be happier. The included bladder converter was simple to operate. The pen sits nicely in my hand when capped. It's lighter than the Jinhao #5 pens I also purchased and writes much more smoothly. I love the way it looks and performs, and I would definitely recommend this pen to anyone who wanted to try fountain pens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The world needs more purple - this is a fantastic start! Purple lovers, rejoice! This pen is a beautiful semi-matte metallic purple with all the great features of the Metropolitan line. It's a sturdy pen with a cap that closes with a satisfying click - you know when it's properly closed. The nib is smooth and the fine point isn't scratchy at all. I haven't had a single issue with skipping or hard starts, but the ink doesn't flood everywhere, either. Good dependable performance. Because it's metal it has a little bit of heft to it, but it's not overly heavy and doesn't cause any strain at all because it's such a smooth writer. Just as with the rest of the Metropolitan line, this is a perfect pen for a fountain pen beginner - or the fountain pen enthusiast who happens to love purple!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Purple!!! I have loved the color purple for about 50 years now. I've never owned a real fountain pen but have always been drawn to their look and feel. This fp was really easy to use. It has a nice weight but not at all heavy. It feels comfortable in my small hands. Even after owning this pen for over 5 months, I still get excited writing with it! I just ordered more items from The Goulet Team because I appreciate all your helpful videos, down-to-earth and personable group of people that seem to make up your "team".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from this just became my daily carry I received this pen as a gift and was pleasantly surprised by how much I love it! The color and feel of the body are incredibly satisfying in my hand, and the nib is wonderfully slick for such an affordable pen. I have the Fine, and the line weight is almost identical to a Pilot G2 Extra Fine rollerball- and it writes even more smoothly! It has worked well on every paper I've thrown at it, both for letter writing and sketching. AWESOME bargain pen. Oh, and the purple color is fantastic; too often "purple" things are more of a lilac or some subdued shade of violet. This is PURPLE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pilot Metro is Smooth These pens are not only economical but write very smooth, like a more expensive pen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVE this pen! I've bought quite a few fountain pens lately, and this is by far my favorite. The weight is nice, it writes beautifully, and it's a gorgeous pen. Since I also ordered several ink samples, it's been great to use the eyedropper converter it came with to try little bits of color at a time. My only complaint would be that I prefer a textured grip over the shiny-smooth one, because I occasionally get sweaty hands for no good reason and the texture can get slick. Other than that, it's an amazing pen!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best combination of value and quality I really love Pilot Metropolitans. They're just a great pen for the price. Easy to use, surprisingly smooth nib given how inexpensive AND amazingly fine it is, and very well balanced. Flows properly, without being either too wet or too dry, no skipping or starting issues. This is an extremely reliable pen. I particularly love this purple retro pop, though I also subsequently picked up a turquoise, orange, and green. I needed a solid collection of color coded pens to use for color coded note taking in college, and the Metropolitan was perfect for both a student's budget and my fussy tastes when it comes to quality writing experience. I am VERY satisfied by this purchase. I may still use my VP for the bulk of my non-color coded note taking, but my rainbow of Metros is always along for the ride too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice pen! I really like this pen. I bought the fine nib hoping the ink would not seep through the paper I was using and it doesn't! I like the snap on/off top and the color (purple) went with the project theme. I wish the description had been clearer about how it filled, because I ordered a bottled ink insert I did not need, as the pen comes ready to use with bottled ink. I do wish that tube was clear so you could see the ink level. Packed very well too.
