Diamine Blue Velvet (40ml Bottled Ink) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from "Velvet" is right Whether or not any particular color appeals is of course 100% subjective but I find this the perfect shade of blue in between sapphire and blue-black. It's a serious blue, but with a bit of snap. Maybe it's just the power of suggestion but it seems to flow onto paper smooth as velvet, too. Once I'd gone through one pen's worth of this I was online researching whether or not this was a limited release so that I'd know whether I had to buy more asap (seems it isn't limited). This won't be my last bottle of this ink. (FYI: Pelikan F nib, Clairefontaine paper.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lovely ink; maybe a little darker than I thought This ink is lovely and rich and extremely well behaved. It currently lives in my Monteverde Invincia (with a Goulet Medium nib) and in a Levenger pen of mine. I enjoy writing with it. My only complaint is that I thought it might be a little bit of a brighter blue; but i am starting to learn how different inks look onscreen versus on the page. In any case, i would definitely recommend this ink to anyone looking for a darker, rich blue. The bottle is great and the ink is wet and smooth, just like i like it. Despite my minor qualms about the color, i still use it every day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from True Deep Blue Obviously the depth of the color will depend a lot on your nib (width and wetness), but I really like Diamine's Blue Velvet. I like darker colors and this one does the trick. It is a true deep blue without going into the blue-black category. I'm currently using it with a find nib at it does just what I like. I am looking forward to seeing how it performs with a wider nib. I put a drop on a thick piece of paper and set it side ways and the large drop didn't even run. I had to move it down the page. This is a saturated blue (as I define it anyway). The drip stayed dark all the way. I even noticed some red sheen where the last bit pooled at the end and dried. A fine nib doesn't show sheen well when writing me thinks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Darker than expected. Quick drying. I am happy with this ink. It is darker on paper than it appears on my computer, but that could have to do with the cheap notebook paper my office buys. It dries much quicker than the other inks I have used, so I do not have to worry about smearing. It is very smooth and flows easily. If it makes a difference, I am currently using a Visconti Dreamtouch nib. I haven't used a steel nib since the disaster I have with a Rebecca Moss pen with a steel nib, and this Visconti is so easy that I do not know if I will ever use a steel nib again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding sheen and shading. Great behavior. Very, VERY smooth, wet flowing in my notoriously picky custom gold nib TWSBI vac700r. Sheens out of this world. Very similar in blueness to baystate blue, with a little less contrast, replaced with heavy red sheen. Dry times are average, shading is good, bleedthrough on thin copy paper is there but not terrible (particularly for how wet the test pen writes) but this ink does. not. feather. I'm amazed at how resistant to feathering this ink is. There's a tiny amount, but even my beloved sailor jentles feather a bit more than this, which is just amazing. Easily an everyday blue that has wonderful performance on both cheap and quality papers. I'm very happy, and think I found the perfect ink for my beloved TWSBI flex nib.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Velvety, red outer shading I have thoroughly enjoyed this ink, and I expect anyone else who purchases it will, too. The ink is beautiful. To be specific, I find the color out of a Nemosine Singularity 0.6mm stub to resemble the upper 1/3 of the swab in this product page. (I believe my observation of the darker coloring is due to the larger contact area.) Goulet's swabs are usually spot on, and this one is no different. What a beautiful, rich blue. Definitely recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sheen! I purchased a full bottle of this ink in early January to go with my Conklin Duragraph, and it is an amazing blue! It actually has quite a nice red sheen to it. It flows well in the two pens I have tried it in. It is on the darker spectrum of blue but is still vibrant! I would definitely recommend this ink!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So pretty! I'm a newb, and I bought this and several other ink samples for my first couple of fountain pens. I don't know much about ink qualities, so I can't really speak to the technical side of the inks, which is why I don't feel good about 5 stars. I do know that this one is beautiful. I put it in my Jinhao x750 M so there's a nice wet line, and it's just lovely. It will probably be my first full bottle of ink since getting sucked into this world.
