TWSBI Diamond 580 Fountain Pen - Clear, 1.1mm Stub is rated 4.7222 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful pen This is my first time with a TWSBI pen and I was not disappointed. The pen has a nice weight to it and its fit and finish are impeccable (I love seeing the ink through its clear body). It feels very well balanced in my hand when writing (I do not post the cap). It is a very smooth writer and the nib lays down a good amount of ink on the paper. I've experienced zero hard-starts and no skipping at all with my 580. It is a joy to write with and has rapidly become my daily "go-to" pen. The only little hickup is that my nib is a bit wider than 1.1mm (it is just shy of 1.4mm). Having said that, I would still buy it again. I love my TWSBI 580.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fountain Pen I read reviews, watched videos, then decided to purchase from Goulet. I could not be happier. My first purchase from Goulet was a pleasure. Their personal attention is wonderful. I have collected fountain pens for over 50 years to write with. This is a unique pen that is better than described. Extremely well made, functional, balanced. My first modern stub nib. I enjoy it. Smooth, good ink flow & line variation. Requires slightly more effort than the classic gold stubs which are easily flexed. My only wish is for the cap to be postable. I am glad I have this pen in my collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flawlessly Made The quality of the TWSBI 580 is simply excellent. It is a pen that looks even better in the hand than in pictures (which are often taken professionally to put the pen in its best light). The design of the entire pen is attractive. It also feels sturdy. The piston filling mechanism is incredibly smooth--far more so than the other two piston-filled pens I own (they are both from the another company and many times the price of the TWSBI). The two nibs I purchased (1.1mm and EF) are smooth and they lay down a generous line of ink. They are beautifully made with their carvings and high degree of polishing. I am very impressed with this pen. Goulet Pens' service is outstanding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new Everyday Pen Didn't need instructions, I had studied Brian's videos while I was waiting the two weeks and 13000 km delivery to New Zealand. Smooth and wet on the first fill using it's own Diamond 50 ink well. This 1.1 nib just adds so much flare to my mundane handwriting, I am looking for any excuse to use it! One beginner's tip: you unscrew it from the cap to use, and friction fit the cap to Post. REMEMBER to pull off to unpost, and not screw off otherwise you will advance the piston towards expelling the ink. Phew! In fact I have decided never to post it as the balance is perfect without it. :-) This pen will attract comments, so go out there and sell people on fountain pens, directing them to this site. They will be in safe hands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pen, great price! As someone who owns a number of really great pens (Pelikan M1000, Omas 360, Omas Paragon) etc. I wasn't too sure about this TWSBI, but I really wanted to try a stub nib. Well, I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised by this writing instrument! The pen looks great (it's my first demonstrator, and wow - I love it!), the quality is great (it's really well built), and the nib is just great. It wrote really well straight out of the box - no adjusting needed, wet enough, lovely line variation, just splendid! At the moment I've got Diamine Lavender in there, which looks fabulous in the demonstrator! Something tells me this is not going to be the last TWSBI and certainly not the last stub nib I'm ever going to buy ;-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pen Excellent Value This pen is beautiful. The plastic is really clear and crisp on the corners. The diamond facades make my blood colored ink look devious. :) The nib was a little scratchy at first. A 1.1mm stub makes my handwriting pop! I think I went a little overboard smoothing it and maybe rounded the corners a bit much, which makes the italic not as good. What I really wanted to do was smooth the center part, where the tines split. That's the part that I can't get smooth. Oh well, when the ink flows it's hardly noticeable. And I'm sure it'll smooth on its own with contact to paper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TWSBI 580 I have bought many fountain pens over the years, none of them have cost very much and almost all have had quirks and negative issues. Even the venerable Lamy Safari fell short of my expectations, small converter volume and the nib dries out too quickly. The TWSBI 580 has not disappointed so far and I am amazed. I was really expecting this pen to be too big as other reviewers have mentioned it's size, but not so! It is just right for my middle aged male hands. The nib (1.1 stub italic) is buttery-smooth and the flow is just right for my largish rounded script. And I really enjoy watching the ink gurgle in the pen, showing its gorgeous colour. The purchase experience from the Goulets is second to none and brings to mind old memories of personal service and attention to detail that are sadly lacking in many transactions today. Packing is designed to survive a zombie apocalypse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from $ for $ the nicest pen I that own. I just love my new TWSBI Diamond 580 and am thankful to all of the folks who've owned and commented on the 530 and 540, because apparently TWSBI listened, and the pen that I bought is near perfect in my opinion. It's lovely to hold and exudes quality from the tip of the nib to the end of the piston filling nob. The nib on the TWSBI is the most similar nib I have to the new Goulet Pens #6 exclusive 1.1mm italic just made available and I love the Goulet nib so much that I think it being used on the 580 would be the only improvement I might want. With that said, the TWSBI 1.1mm italic is smooth, responsive and worked flawlaessly right out of the packaging. I inked it with Iroshizuku Yama-budo and have written some of the most beautiful hand lettering I've ever created. This is a great pen. Buy it.
