I have had one of these in my messenger bag since the mid-1990s, when I got some at a university in Japan. I saw some Japanese colleagues using them and I noticed they looked perfect for size, page layout, and flexibility. They are perfect for a running log of meeting notes, lists of things to do or remember, or records of technical measurements. It turns out the paper takes fountain pen ink really well.

These are my favorite notebooks, by far. The paper quality is the highest and the books hold up over time. I also like that they come in 100 page books and have no spiral binder.

I love everything about this notebook. I was searching for a notebook with paper that would accept the various Noodler inks and pens I use. My main concerns were high ghosting, slow dry time. high bleeding, and having paper that was not somewhat toothy. Certain Noodler inks are very wet, in particular the Polar Blue and Polar Black. My primary writing pens have M-nibs but I do have 2 F-nib pens. The only Noodler's ink that was consistently having ghosting and bleeding was the Polar Blue. The Polar Blue in the M-nib was worse than in the F-nib. So, I use the F-nib in this notebook when I want to use Polar Blue as my writing ink. All the other inks, Polar Black, Marine Green, Napalm, Apache, and Yellow performed well in this notebook. The notebook itself does lay flat, has a thing cover, and has a place in the top right of the page for page numbers and a date. I have the lined paper and I find the paper pleasant to write on and of an off-white color with a low sheen. At first, I was not sure if I would like the notebook because of the flimsy-looking cover. However, I really appreciate that it is because I can actually fold the notebook in half if I need to in order for a better writing position. The more I used this notebook the more I appreciate its simplistic design and now favor it over other notebooks. In fact, I plan on ordering 3 more right after I finish this review.With regards to my experience with Goulet Pens, they are not only a class-act company, but the owners are passionate about what they sell and serving the needs of their customers.
