Noodler's Red Black (3oz Bottled Ink) is rated 4.4337 out of 5 by 83.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from a wonderful ink I am admittedly an ink novice, but I found that Noodler's Red Black was a wonderful experience when paired with my new Noodler's Ahab. Wonderful shading, as with minimal effort I was able to achieve a light burgundy to a wine tinted black on Clairefontaine 90 g. On the same paper, there was zero feathering or bleedthrough. It did take just over 25 seconds for even fine lines to completely dry. on cheaper paper, this ink is useful for notetaking, but one should expect some feathering, and little variation from the darker burgundy hue. Overall, a very versatile ink, good for simple note taking or flex nib work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Noodler's Red/Black Ink Appears as a medium dark red with darker undertones. When I use it, it makes me think of the dark red velvet curtains in the theaters when I was young. It is an elegant color and has great flow in my Ahab pen. It is also nice to have a local pen company to go to for my supplies and while the Goulet Pen Company may not be local geographically they are my local pen company as they are closer (and much faster) than the office depot over in the next town. It is evident that all the people of the Goulet Pen Company love what they do as they do it so well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely blood-red Only after I started using this ink at work did it dawn on me how uncannily it dries to the color of dried blood: You will still see (rarely) drops of blood on paperwork in an emergency department, and you would be hard-pressed to tell the difference between this ink and the real thing. This ink flows well in my Richard Binder Vanishing Point italic stubs, dries quickly enough on cruddy paper and tends not to feather out. I love using it at work for the inevitable head-scratching it provokes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Noodler's Red-Black This is a beautiful, deep red that dries more of a red-brown than a red-black. As such, it is fairly reminiscent of dried blood; a poignant touch when one is an exacting teacher who uses this ink for grading papers. This ink flows well, shades beautifully, and dries fairly quickly. When this bottle is gone, I will certainly be buying another. And another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blood Red I tend to avoid reds, as most of them are too bright or lean towards a pinkish hue. Not to mention that they also make my eyesight grow tired. However, Noodler's Red-Black has made me go into writing in red. This ink has some nice shading as its very wet. When applied it looks a lot like dried blood or extract of Dragon's Blood plant. It is a slow drier, but when it dries it does some amazing shading. This ink shines on M and B nibs, otherwise some might confuse it for a dark brown. The ink is partially waterproof, by the way. Highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Brownish Red This color has dark shading, almost to black. Other than that, it is a brownish red, rather like Black Swan in English Rose. When I set them side by side, the biggest difference is that the Black Red shades darker. I prefer the English Rose. The swatch on this website is correct. The red really doesn't stand out against the black the way I would like. I don't know if it's possible, but I wish the red were more red, especially given the name of the ink.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rust? I really like this ink, use it as my grading color. It does not show the color I was expecting. Looks more like wet rust than "red black", although I'm not even sure what red black is supposed to look like! Flows well and does not dry in the nib after longer exposures. Surprisingly easy to clean too.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very wet ink Interesting color, but it was just too wet and bled through every kind of paper I tried it with - everything from low-end filler to 90gsm Clairefontaine. On the plus side, it feels very smooth when you write.
