Noodler's Ottoman Azure (3oz Bottled Ink) is rated 4.623 out of 5 by 61.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Alluring Azzuri! I bought a new TWSBI 580 Al and wanted an ink to complement the pen. I've visited Istanbul many times and was drawn to the description of the ink being redolent of the Sea of Marmara. That really conjured up a beautiful image in my mind. Now that I have the ink I am not disappointed. It's difficult to describe to people who are not ink aficionados how ink can be as evocative as Proust's tiffin but I swear that when I put this ink into the 580 barrel it glittered like the autumn sun hitting a blue wave. In this colour I can also see the same tinge as in Iznik blue pottery. Needless to say I am profoundly delighted and entirely under the spell of Noodler's Ottoman Azure.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rich, yet understated blue. This was one of my first bottled inks, and I've grown to love it the more pens I put it in. It's a medium-dark cobalt blue with just a hint of teal. On some papers (and with wetter pens) it does tend to feather and bleed a bit, and dry time can be long on smoother papers with wet lines. If you're patient, this is a great daily writing pen, though it isn't all that waterproof. It shades beautifully and the color is, to me, nearly perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rich, deep blue This is a fantastic ink. I've been looking for something like this for a while now. Currently, the blues in my collection are on the permanent side, which means I hesitate to put them into much-loved / expensive pens. This is the best of both worlds, and it's the kind of blue which works in ANY context, be it casual note-taking, business related stuff, or ( my area of interest) student note taking. Dry time is pretty good, which means there can be a little feathering and bleedthrough, but use decent-ish (note the ish!) paper and a extra-fine/ fine nib and those issues are quickly sorted. For the students/ note takers: this ink is extremely easy on the eyes when reading lecture notes!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect blue for me I was startled, when I first dove into the world of fountain pens, to discover that colors weren't what I thought they were (sound familiar?). Black was no longer black, red wasn't red, and blue DEFINITELY wasn't blue. In fact, my first blue ink (J. Herbin Eclat de Saphir) was almost purple. I love that ink, but I wanted a blue that was more BLUE. After sampling a few from Noodlers (with the exception of THAT blue, which I still haven't tried), I've found my blue. Ottoman Azure is rich, deep, BLUE. Turkey happens to be a very special country for me, and there is indeed something of the Bosphorus in this color. I even used this ink to get a friend into the hobby, suggesting this ink and an italic nib for her to use addressing her wedding invitations. Now she's hooked. We use fountain pens, and all of the quirks that go with writing with them, because they're a bit special. A BLUE blue that carries a name which, for me, has unique emotional attachments? That's a home run.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great color Used this Noodler's ink in a new Ahab pen. No complaints about the color, but the ink bled through most paper. This was especially true with a Moleskine planner. So, I guess this is more a commentary on the quality of Moleskine paper than the ink. Used with a fine or extra fine nib it works much better on thinner paper. Great color nonetheless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice everyday blue A little lighter tone than I expected, but very attractive medium blue. Grows on you. A good everyday colour, formal enough for office, readable. Almost identical to Noodler's Blue, to my eye anyway. Not a trace of purple, a pure blue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Deep Royal Blue I love the deep rich color of this ink. I particulary like to use it in pens that have dark blue translucent barrels because the ink and pen colors match almost exactly. I have used this ink in about a half dozen pens (various manufacturers, fine or medium nibs) and the ink has flowed well in all of them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well behaved ink ! Love the color of this ink, and flows well in all of my pens - especially the Edson which I just received from Goulet. The only thing better than this terrific Noodler blue is the service of the Goulet Pen Company. My GO TO etailer since I'm in Canada. -Bill Wood-
