Lamy 2000 Fountain Pen - Makrolon, Fine is rated 4.7458 out of 5 by 59.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Return of an old favourite Sitting in my pocket right now ... is this much loved Lamy 2000. At least, it's my hird much loved Lamy 2000. I've had a run of losing or damaging these... Beautiful constrution and durable finish. A very smooth nib. The Lamy 2000 writes a little finer than expected and is more of an EF than a true fine by Western standards. It writes finer than my Montblanc EF pens. The nib is very, very smooth. I prefer a little more feedback but for those who appreciate a smooth pen, this one has been polished to a mirrorlike level of smoothness. No issues with the piston and we again have one of the most reliable and best pens for the price. Many thanks to Goulet!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sleek, Trendy, and oh so Light! I have coveted a Lamy 2000 for many, many years. It is not a Ferrari, but it is an RX-8. I got the Makrolon version, not the stainless steel version. I also got a fine nib. The Makrolon body is light in the hand, but the weight of the nib is substantial enough to put ink to paper without fatigue. To keep the weight of the pen to a minimum, this fountain pen is a piston fill only. It took me a couple of tries to get the hang of it for maximum fill. The ink level indicator is integrated as a design element instead of a purely utilitarian feature. The nib is flexible without being wobbly. The ink flow is smooth and even. I love, love, love this pen. It was definitely worth the wait.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Inconsistent Quality Control I purchased a Lamy 2000 in January 2012, I liked so much that I purchased another for my wife (she liked it too much). The second pen has a 1 mm difference between the front and rear barrel sections. This is a huge gap both visually and by feel. There's no way this pen should have passed QC at the factory and especially not the retailer when directed to ink and inspect the pen before shipment. The argument for a brick and mortar pen store where self inspection and testing is encouraged becomes more apparent with every internet pen transaction that I make. No excuses--this pen should not have been shipped to the customer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lamy 2000 F Very satisfied with my FP (L2K) purchase from Goulet Pens. I decided to ask a question using their chat and Katy answered me right away. I asked if they could test write my purchase and she said sure, no problem. Included this request in the comments box when completing my online order. My invoice has a note from Katy (and I believe it's no coincidence that she used a very light color, which is appreciated). Pen was flushed after the test - another nice touch. As mentioned, secure packaging - something to brag about with any purchase. I know I've personally increased my FP knowledge base with Brian's videos and wanted to thank them. I will certainly be doing business with Goulet in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smoothest pen This pen is just amazing. It is the smoothest pen I have ever used. It is not too wet, it is not to dry it is just perfect. The design is spot on, it is comfortable to hold, it doesn't get slippery, my only complain about it is the very narrow sweet spot. It definitely takes a little time to get used to it but if you don't rotate the pen, it won't be a problem. It has a14k gold nib but please don't try to flex this pen it is not designed for that. The piston filling mechanism is very useful and definitely more effective that a converter. Mine works the best with lamy inks but of course you can use others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Teutonic coolness This has been among my most reliably-writing pen - writes exceptionally smoothly on good paper, and did so straight out of the box. I have found the F point is close to a Japanese fine (I compare it to a Sailor) when I use Pelikan (drier) ink, which makes it perfect for my small handwriting. The piston reservoir holds an enormous amount of ink. The piston may seem sticky at first, but I found mine loosened up after several fillings. The Makrolon barrel will absolutely NEVER chip, scratch, mar, crack or shatter, and the clip is a beautifully (and simply) machined bar of stainless steel that will shred a pocket if carried there long term (I speak from carrying the ball point L2K). If you travel, carry a pen in bags and pockets, or just treat your pens like crap, the L2K is robust unlike anything else at this price point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy from Goulets I have to confess, I bought this pen first from amazon for a cheaper price, and that was a mistake. The pen came with a misaligned nib and I had to return it. I read that the Goulets personally check each lamy 2000 before sending it out, so I ordered a lamy 2000 from them. I have a used this pen for a few days using noodlers black; writing, drawing, etc... This pen and nib came in perfect condition. The lamy 2000 is easily the pen I would recommend to a friend, but only if you buy it frm the Goulets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My best writer Disclaimer first: I am not a fountain pen connoisseur. However, I write a lot, both for work (filed notes, etc.) and for personal purposes. I love fountain pens that feel right in my hand, that are wet-writing, and with fine or medium-fine nibs. The Lamy 2K is exactly this kind of pen. However, in addition to being a workhorse, it is also beautiful and uniquely cool. Compared to my TWSBI 540 w/ M Schmidt nib, it is slightly finer but wetter (both tested w/ Lamy Blue ink), and as smooth. I like it better than the 540, but not by a huge margin; though it costs 3x as much, it doesn't write 3x as well. It is a somewhat expensive pen, so it was a bit of a gamble on my part, but I was rewarded with a gorgeous pen that writes exactly as I expected it to.
