Jinhao X750 Fountain Pen - Shimmering Sands, Medium is rated 4.4783 out of 5 by 92.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly heavy, good for the price I followed another reviewer's advice and purchased one of these and a convertor, not realizing that it came with a convertor. I'd previously purchased a Goulet nib for use with one of my Ahabs, but decided to actually use it on this one. This pen looks really nice, and until I felt the finials on the cap and barrel, wouldn't have realized how inexpensively made this pen is. It's nice and heavy in the hand. With the Goulet nib, it's quite nice to write with. It's definitely as Brian says in one of his pens for newbies videos, a "fake it 'till you make it" pen. This just may replace my Pilot MRs for my To-Use-At-Work pen.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value, can be a great pen with upgrades First, the photos on the web site can't really show you how attractive this pen is. It is really very nice. Like other Jinhao's have gotten from Goulet, the medium nib is not the greatest and the converter is pretty cheap. But order a Goulet nib for $15 and a Schmidt standard converter for $5 and for a total of $30 you have a pen that writes beautifully and is far superior to anything else you can get for the price. You can easily make this a 5-star pen with the $20 worth of upgrades. Unbelievable deal at that price, and with the ability to swap nibs easily if you want to change nib sizes. This is a no brainer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good budget pen I bought this pen recently and have run through a couple fillings. As is, this pen is a bit of a wet and broad writer compared to other medium nibs I've used. In fact, it was too wide a line for me. Otherwise, the pen is gorgeous. The "Shimmering Sands" provide a dynamic, multicolored sparkle. The pictures don't do the color justice. The grip is comfortable, the weight is nice; may be a bit too awkward with the cap posted depending on how you like your weight distribution. If you want to make this pen's performance sparkle as much as its looks, drop a #6 Goulet nib in it and never look back. I did, and this pen is just about perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great heavyweight pen Several years ago, I purchased a fountain pen from a big box store. It was entirely metal and heavy; it didn't last. Since then I have been on a hunt to find a similar pen. When Goulet Pens introduced the Jinhao line it went onto my wish list. Now that I have one it is a good writer. Though it comes only in medium nib, I swapped nibs with a fine nib and it is exactly what I want! The weight of the pen lets one know they are in the process of writing (posted even more so). It makes writing an exercise and gives one's hand a workout. The converter cartridge is a bit on the wimpy side. I will most likely be replacing it with a standard international with more substance. Overall it is a wonderful pen.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun, Pretty Pen--Cheap Converter I really love how weighty this pen is, and in my experience, the Jinhao nib provides a smooth, wet flow of ink. Occasionally, it takes a second to start writing my first word of the day, or conversely the first strokes come out heavier than normal, but then it's smooth sailing. My one issue has been the included converter. My ink seemed to be emptying faster than I could possibly be using it, and I discovered it was because the ink was trickling out of the converter into the barrel of the pen while stored upright. No worries! I'm just going to order a standard international converter next chance I get, and then it should be right as rain.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice pen for the price I was looking for a black pen to use with my Iroshizuku Kiri-Same ink and this fits the bill perfectly. The photos don't do it justice - I expected only silver sparkles, the sparkles are multi-colored. It really is a pretty pen. Based on other reviews I ordered a Goulet nib to replace the one that comes with the pen and I'm glad I did. The Goulet nib transforms the pen from "meh" to "good". It's a little heavier than my other pens, even unposted, but the balance is ok. It definitely won't replace my more expensive pens, but I'm happy with it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice pen - but not perfect The initial pen I received was defective and the amazing folks at Goulet replaced it quickly and efficiently. Great customer service. The replacement pen works well, the nib is surprisingly smooth. I love the pattern on the barrel and cap, almost sparkles. The pen is weighty, but feels well made and fits well in my hand. The cap posts, but less securely than I might prefer. It also makes the pen top heavy. I tend to write without posting my pens, so this is not a bother to me. My only complaint is that the feed doesn't seem able to keep up with the medium nib. After writing a couple sentences the feed almost always starts to run dry. This can be very frustrating. I am using the included converter and I have to remove the barrel and force some ink into the feed. I plan to try a different converter in the near future, as the ink does tend to "stick" with the included converter. If not for this issue, this pen would beat slightly more expensive pens in my collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing pen for the money This is an unbelievably nice pen for the price. The Quality of the materials and the fit and finish are better than pens that cost four times as much. Even the nib is quite nice. I had just one tiny issue with mine, it leaked when shaken because there was too much space between the nib and the feed. I replaced the nib with a fine Goulet nib and this problem persisted and was finally fixed simply by repeatedly pressing the nib a feed together carefully. I suspect that this could have been done with the stock nib in which case this would be the same wonderful pen for just $10.
