J. Herbin Gris Nuage (30ml Bottled Ink) is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous Gray Inks I own three gray inks: this Gris Nuage, and Pilot's Iroshizuku "Kiri-same" and "Fuyu-syogun." All three are wonderful, and I highly recommend any (or all) of them to anyone looking for gray ink. The Gris Nuage is the lightest. The Kiri-same is a medium, brown-ish gray. The Fuyu-syogun is the darkest -- a slate-bluish gray. All three work wonderfully on my gray personal stationery... understated and elegant. These are also inks that I would use for writing a letter of sympathy for the loss of a loved one. They convey the mood of loss without the starkness of traditional black, and the gray ink has been noticed and complimented as being more "sympathetic."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incomparably beautiful The ideal grey: not a dilute black but a true grey, perfectly achromatic, slightly silvery. I use it in a very narrow stub (0.6 mm), but I think any fat nib would do just as well: it shades subtly and is very readable on white paper. The only ink that comes close is Iroshizuku Fuyu-syogun, also very beautiful but hardly any shading and almost twice the price. If you need a dark or opaque ink, this is not for you: otherwise, I think you would be very hard pressed to find a more appealing grey.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from VERY light Much lighter than even I anticipated. You'll need a broad or flex to use it alone, or put a drop of something darker in it to bring the color out. Pretty, but faint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am fascinated! At first, I was sceptical because I thought that it could be too bright for normal writing. But now I've tried it in my Lamy with a medium nib and it is well legible. I have not written a whole page with it yet but those few lines I wrote are really pleasingly to read. The flow is excellent and writing with this ink is quite smooth. Furthermore, it behaves well on my different papers and I did not detect any feathering or bleedthrough. The shading looks beautiful with this colour. All in all, I'm very content with the Gris Nuage as my first J. Herbin ink. The price is appropriate and the bottle looks beautiful. A perfect ink for anybody who wants to try a new colour that looks very noble and exclusive on the paper. Greetings from the German North Sea Coast!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely light grey with GREAT shading! I love this ink in a full cursive italic, broad nib. The shading is out of this world. A true grey!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Subtle I used this in a Lamy vista with a 1.5 nib and also with a Fine nib. Both nib sizes worked well on all paper except the French ruled paper. The fine nib was very hard to read on the French ruled paper and may not be the best for graph paper either - but the 1.5 nib was fine. I bought it to write thank you cards - with a larger nib pen, but I am leaving this ink in the pen with the Fine nib to journal with. I love this color. It's quiet but not boring. It shades when using the larger nib. This is not a saturated color but it's a beautiful color if you like grays

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent love this ink for using in a brush pen for drawing and shading. i'm not too adept at it yet but it works wonderfully with a brush pen or fountain pen filled with black ink for pen and ink drawings

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pencil color This ink is the exact silvery grey color of number two pencil on the page.
