Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pretty ink I am very pleased with this ink after using it for several weeks. It was well-behaved in my Ahab, with no flow issues. As with all the glittery inks, the amount of gold flake can change as you write, depending on how it has settled. It is always a good idea to mix the ink well before putting it into your pen, or you might not end up with much shimmer. Overall, I think there was at least as much shimmer as in the 1670 series from J. Herbin. The color of the ink perfectly matches the gold shimmer. There was no feathering issues or anything on Rhodia, Mnemosyne, or Filofax paper. Cleaning out of the pen wasn't as hard as I feared it might be.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous ink I love this ink. I started with a sample and bought a bottle as soon as it was back in stock. It's a lovely gold color, so great for accents and borders. After you gently shake the bottle, the shimmery particles stay well-mixed fully long enough to fill a fountain pen. The ink works equally well with an inexpensive metal dip pen and my Noodler's Ahab. I've also applied it with a reasonably high quality paintbrush for larger areas in art work. I've also applied it in thin lines over a wash of another color ink, and it shines without bleeding. It does not work with my glass dip pen, but that's no deal-breaker for me. I've used it on all kinds of paper and it works beautifully on just about everything from thick sketchbook paper to resume paper to Tomoe River. I couldn't be more pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If sparkles are your thing, this is a dream. I got a sample of this ages ago and only inked up my #5 medium yellow Jinhao 159 with it a couple of days ago. I'm trying to wean myself off of sparking inks, but I find myself still lusting after this one. It feels like liquid gold pouring out of your nib. It makes you feel like King Midas. The splattered images below are on HP 32-pound copy paper (a surprisingly inexpensive but wonderful find) and the lettering is on Tomoe River. Like I said, as long as you're cool with sparkles (and you know how to take care of your pens when you're using them,) this ink is pretty extraordinary (and in my opinion, better by a lot than Night Sky and better by a zillion than Magical Forest).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gorgeous, shiny It isn't reflective like some inks I've seen, but rather sparkles. My main concern was around running it through a fountain pen -- after a month, it hasn't caused any problems in my old Parker. It dries on the nib quickly and so needs regular use (every couple of days) to stay wet. I'm still scared to ink up a more expensive pen with this, but it's so gorgeous I'll give in eventually. So far I'm using it mainly for writing cards. I'm happy with this ink, and would buy again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not work in my Singularity fine nib pen I too did not have any luck with this ink. I used it in a Nemosine Singularity fine pen, which is more like a medium nib. I believe the ink is too thick to flow through this pen, because it took a very long time to get it to do so and then it quickly stopped. Yes, I know you have to shake these inks. In fact from the sample package of shimmertastic inks the only one that has flowed well through this pen has been the “Shimmering Seas,” and even that had to be coaxed each time to get it going well enough to write with. I still have 3 more samples left to try, unfortunately Golden Sands just didn’t work in this pen for me. I cannot properly rate it, so I can only rate is as it applies to this particular pen.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shading This is a lovely yellow golden ink although it didn't seem to be as "twinkly" on my paper as the Goulet pictures suggested it might be. However, it does shade beautifully. It's good in a wet pen. Delicious in fact. The only downside was that it seemed to be very hard to get the ink into the converter. I've never had this issue before. Usually a couple of twists up any down, and the pen is full. But with this one I had to fill it repeatedly, and even after four or five tries, it was a scant 3/4s full. I tried a second pen, with a different kind of converter, and had the same issue. So I'm at a loss to explain that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gorgeous color, but a little on the light side The color of this ink is fantastic, but is very light and hard to read in all but the wettest of pens. The only pens I have that are wet enough for this ink to really be readable are noodler's Ahabs. But that color! I couldn't resist purchasing a bottle. Good thing I love my Ahabs. And just a touch of Diamine Magical Forest makes a very lovely light olive green that is much more easily seen and pairs quite well with my Blue-Green Lamy Al-star.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beautiful, but .... This is a difficult one. The color and the shimmer are amazing and it looked like molten metal in my TWSBI, but... Even leaving it in my pen over night caused it to clog up to the point that I had to take the pen apart to thoroughly clean it. Thankfully that's not too much of a problem with my TWSBI, and it needed to be greased anyway. I think this ink would be amazing for special occasions or added bling, I really love the color. I just wouldn't recommend leaving it in a pen for any length of time. I can't justify giving it full marks with that kind of a "but..."
