With a #6 JoWo steel nib, the Elmo Montegrappite fills via cartridge/converter. This finish is named after Chrysocolla, a copper stone which ranges in color from deep blues to light greens and is often found in association with Azurite and Malachite.
Italy’s reputation for fine writing instruments can be traced to the early success of Elmo – the name used from 1915 by the company now known as Montegrappa. The standards set by the company’s first Technical Director, Heinrich ‘Elmo’ Helm, were transformative, and provided a foundation for Montegrappa’s modern-day leadership in craftsmanship, individuality and precision.
Every Elmo pen echoes the modernist design values of the Bauhaus era – a time where art and architecture discovered common ground. The Elmo pen uses a stripped-back classical form, rich in European chic yet ergonomically ideal for smooth writing. Pocket-clips feature Montegrappa’s famous rolling-sphere clamp and have been tested for 20,000 actions.
As its name suggests, the Elmo Montegrappite differs from standard Elmo models through the use of a proprietary artisanal resin. Boutique machinery and special production processes allow Montegrappite to be realised in small batches, which can be manipulated into textures with a complexity, density and depth not achievable in standard industrial acrylics. The production of Montegrappite leads to a significant reduction in wastage, while shavings and offcuts can be recovered to create new colours and finishes.
Goulet Pens has collaborated with Montegrappa to create a series of exclusive textures from this exciting new material. Barrel, grip section and cap have all been hand-turned from specially formulated rods. As a finishing touch, Montegrappa’s script logo is engraved directly into the base of the cap and filled with enamel.
The Elmo Montegrappite is delivered with a converter and two black short standard international ink cartridges.
We do our best to photograph the pens to show how they will appear in person, but due to the nature of the material there will be some variation in the pattern seen here. This adds an element of uniqueness to the pen, with no two patterns being exactly the same.
