Pilot Metropolitan Fountain Pen - Black Plain, Fine is rated 4.8254 out of 5 by 63.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fountain pen, great advice of Goulet Pen company (sorry for this note, I'm french). I've bought this fountain pen after watching a review made by Goulet Pen on Youtube. The pen is made with good materials. It looks like it will be my companion for a long time. The body is composed in 3 parts, each one in a different kind of black. The ink flow is very fluid. On writing, the letters onthe paper are **really** thin. Usually, when I write, my letters are rather small. So, the pen is what I was looking for. Shipping was excellent, despite of I'm not living in the USA. Conclusion : I really recommand this fountain pen and Goulet Pens

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Gorgeous Pen! But Scratchy I love the way this pen looks and feels. It's very stylish and professional, unlike the Lamy Safari, which looks like a child's toy in comparison (especially my bright blue and neon pink Safaris). However, I found the fine nib to be quite scratchy. I think it's the kind of nib that has a sweet spot, but I just can't find it consistently. I prefer nibs that are smooth all around. I feel that my Pelikan Preppy has a smoother nib. I think I'm going to have to buy a medium Pilot Metropolitan next, and hopefully that will be less scratchy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brand New FP User After a lot of recommendations from friends, online, and by Brian Goulet himself, I picked up a Pilot Metro with a fine nib as my first pen. AMAZING! I'm still getting used to not having to press down very hard, and I've had it in my hand for only a few hours, but I think I picked the best pen for a first timer. There's just a little bit of feedback, but that should smooth itself out as I break it in. I can't speak highly enough about the customer service I've experienced buying through Goulet, either. I emailed Brian a few questions and he gave me a very thorough response, and the items were packed with the utmost care. I'm hooked on FPs, and definitely hooked on shopping with the Goulet Pen Company!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beginner's Dream I have purchased a few of these pens after my good experience with the medium tipped version and have to say these live up to the expectation. The fine nib is really fine, especially on nice paper, but on cheaper paper it is absolutely perfect for every day writing. The medium could get a little too broad for my liking on some every day copier paper at work. I have purchased two of these pens to leave at work now with some ink and they make excellent every day pens. They are cheap, come with a converter, have excellent smooth nibs, and looks pretty nice...what is not to like? I would put this right up with the Lamy for the best beginner pen, if not giving the slight nod to the Metro which says a lot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pen - Fine Nib Just received my order in the USPS. Great delivery time, no delays. Inked it up right away. Very smooth writer. Very satisfied. I have a Pilot 78g with a fine nib. Almost identical to write with. The Metropolitan is a finer looking pen, as well as I like the snap cap over threaded caps. I have discovered the entry level pens over the past two years. My favorite writers include the Lamy Safari XF, a few Hero hooded nib pens, and the Pilot 78g. And now add the Metropolitan. My 1997 Parker Duofold Int. xf doesn't come close to the above noted pens in performance. Thanks again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Every Day Pen at Economical Price! The flow and performance of this pen is excellent. Although, the pen did require a good cleaning with an ammonia solution prior to use (had a skipping issue, but the cleaning got rid of the issue). Using J. Herbin Perle Noir, and it writes like a charm. Very nice dark and wet line for such a fine nib. I'm impressed by Pilot's quality. I like the stock converter. It holds more ink than the twist converters, with the drawback being you can't see when the ink is getting low. Nice weight in the hand, and feels nice un-posted in my medium to larger-sized hand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My first everyday carry fountain pen! This is my first EDC, but not my first fountain pen. This is a brutally reliable and simple fountain pen. I resisted this pen for a while until I saw that I could put a Plumix italic nib in it, which I did and do not regret. If you, like me, are trying to incorporate fountain pens into your everyday life and struggling to have confidence that it might not work when you need it most and also want a pen that looks like an ordinary pen (which though I like Lamy safari pens, I consider them to be a little flashy) than this may be for you. I love the weight, balance, and overall feel of the pen. Though inexpensive it does not feel cheap. The snap cap is one of the great features, not having to unscrew a cap for quick notes or signing forms.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First Fountain Pen Great pen. As a lefty, I was worried if I would enjoy writing with a fountain pen so I wanted something that wasn't expensive in case I didn't enjoy it. Happily my experience was quite the opposite. The pen writes smoothly and quickly knocked out my favorite gel rollerball pen for the "Favorite Pen Award" The pen feels sturdy and well made. The metal body give the pen a comfortable weight.
