INK SAMPLE - Pilot Iroshizuku Kiri-same (Autumn Shower) is rated 4.381 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Warn Gray It's light enough that it doesn't look like a washed out black - it's gray, but dark enough to write with. It's a shaded ink. I tested EF- B and 1.5 Nibs, and you could read this ink well at any size except when I used super small printing to take notes. It is so shaded that it makes it too difficult to read the small printed handwriting. Small printed handwriting with the EF nib looks more spotty than shaded. I'll use it for every day personal writing and drawing. I love it for drawing. Don't hesitate to order from the Goulet Pen Co. - great customer service and fast delivery. I prefer them over Amazon and I get free shipping at Amazon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The quintessential 50% gray On my monitor the swab of this ink is exactly representative of this shade of gray, which is a true 50% gray. I like it because it is not so dark as to be more of a black than a gray like some "grays", and yet is not so light as to be unusable. It is, for me, a "Goldielocks" gray. And since it is also an Iroshizuku ink it is very well behaved, well-lubricated and reliable. I have ordered samples of this ink twice now and it is time to either buy a bottle or not. If I do buy a bottle it will be my first Iroshizuku, and I would look forward to seeing what those neat bottles are really like! I recommend this gray with the highest level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Ink justifies the Cost There are bottle inks and there are bottle inks! I was introduced to Pilot Iroshizuku inks while in Japan last June(2014). Since my return to the US, I have bought Pilot Iroshizuku bottle inks. One of my favorite is the Pilot Iroshizuku Kiri-same (Autumn Shower) bottle ink. The shade of gray is dark enough to read, nib flow is even and smooth, and dry time is relatively short. This shade of gray is great for general writing, note taking original signatures on documents that will be copied. Pilot Iroshizuku Kiri-same (Autumn Shower) is a ink that leaves a statement of hidden strength of the fountain pen user who doesn't follow the black or blue ink crowd.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shading Gray Ink Iroshizuku Kiri-Same is a very nice pure gray ink that has dramatic shading. It is lighter than Diamine Grey. It is too light as an every day ink, I think, but if you want an artistic shading gray, this is the one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A nice grey, if a little light This is the first time I have ever used an Iroshizuku ink, and I'm pretty happy with it. The flow, lubrication and shading are excellent, it cleans out of a pen almost effortlessly, and when I accidentally spilled tea on the page I was writing, I found that this ink is partially waterproof. I only deduct one mark because the ink is just way too light for me to consider buying a whole bottle. It looks wonderful in a wide, wet-writing pen like me Platinum Music Pen, but (to me) it's not usable in the fine-nibbed Lamy I tried it in. I like the slightly warm, pencil-grey colour, but I wish it was more of an HB lead than a 2H. Still an ink with wonderful qualities, though, and might suit calligraphers who use wide italics and flex nibs, and who can make good use of the lovely shading.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely Color Truth be told, I am not qualified to post a review, as I have only used a couple of inks and only used them in Parallel Pens. That being said, I LOVE the color. I had a blue in the pen prior to this color, and the mix that it made was heavenly. Then, after the blue had run its course, this beautiful warm grey showed up. Highly recommend this ink. I tend to like the consistency of Noodler's inks better, but the Pilot inks are very thick which makes them smooth to write with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product, fast service! This new ink seems to highly touted on the web sites. Indeed the bottle and it's packaging is beautiful - like fine perfume. I am very new to using inks, and use only dip pens, but the Private Reserve bottle has a little better viscosity I think. Please keep in mind I only use dip pens, preferring thicker inks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Muted yet elegant Making the comparison of my lamy fine + Iroshizuku Kiri-same is like a hot knife through butter is a good description. It's got amazing flow and consistency. I like that it has the different variation between lights and darks - it can make my grocery list look like a small bit of art for the day. And no doubt - it's gray and not black... A blue-gray instead of a brown-gray. I'd say it's very pleasing! Glad I was able to test it out -- I'll be buying a bottle in due time!
