Daiso Fountain Pens (Set of 2) is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from First FP I am disappointed with... The look is nice for a simple FP, and I was excited to have such a slim body for my Bullet Journal. Unfortunately, when I started writing, boom, there was some skipping from bot. Even after a little extra writing and with two different inks, it still skipped. Thus, I'd rather have a Preppy or a Jinhao if I am going to spend $5 or less per fountain pen. This pen takes cartridges, but I had problems getting my international converters to work. Thus, these two pens are now emergency pens at work. After more than two years, this is my first "fail" purchase. If I can replace the nib, that may make a big difference.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Bad, but not great either. I bought this pen looking for a cheaper pen I could buy several of to keep at work. The nibs are very wet, with a flow that reminds me of a 1.0 G2 rollerball. The nib is very scratchy. According to Goulet, it accepts short standard international cartridges, but Faber-Castell cartridges do not work, and Kaweco required a little elbow grease to get it to work. It's an okay pen, but not one I would recommend to a friend, especially not someone new to fountain pens. I think it might behoove Goulet to look into the Daiso cartridges- they seem to work the best.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the price. The silver one worked fine immediately. I had some issues with the white one. The plastic of the ink cartridge was not well formed, so it was stuck in the pen. I got it out and trimmed the little scraggly bits off, and the pen wrote fine. However, the cap on the white one is really hard to click on and off. Perhaps I shall improve my hand strength by using it. :) Other than those small issues though, I really like these pens for the price. They seem to write pretty well. They feel cheap, but better than some other cheap pens I have.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Issues with flow I can’t quite bring myself to spend a lot of money on a single pen, so I thought getting two pens for $10 to use at work would be worth it. Let’s start with what I good. I like the style, the weight, the general look is nice. I don’t mind that it uses cartridges, as I just refill the one it came with using a syringe. The ink flow is quite wet. However, lately I have noticed the nib seems to be dried out, even though the click-to-close cap is secure. I have tried cleaning the nib and feed and it will write for a bit and then stop again. I suspected the caps are not as air-tight as they should be. I tested this by blowing into the caps of several types of pens, all of which no air escaped, except for these and the Varsity. I wish I could recommend this as a beginner’s pen, but this is not a great representation of how great fountain pens are to write with and I feel a beginner would quickly become frustrated.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good value Both pens fit well to my hand, they look really good, I like the style. They are perfect purse pens and give away pens. I'm ok with them with them as cartridge only pens. The only down side I found was both nibs were slightly misaligned but I was able to tweak them and they write well now. I'm toying with the idea of putting an Edison nib in one of them. I had such good results when I put Goulet nibs in all my Jinhao x750's. I write with these pens everyday.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great starter pen! I lucked into one of these pens and have been using it for about a month. I am amazed how comfortable it is and how well it works - especially for the price! I love the idea of buy one for you and one for a friend... but actually will probably get more and put different colors of ink in them :-)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surpisingly smooth These guys are surprisingly smooth for their price. I gave one to my roommate as a gift and ended up getting one for myself to play around with. They fit small in the hand and since they have a metal body, I don't mind these guys rolling around in the bottom of a bag. That being said, do not try to refill the cartridge with another ink. It did not play nicely and ended up leaky through the feed. Definitely play around with the types of inks you use with it if you choose to use a small converter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am but a simple beginner I have never written with a fountain pen before. Honestly, I was only interested because I saw a gentleman at my Bible study using one; I thought that it looked very nice. I found my way to this site through google, and thought that I shouldn't put to much money into this incase I hate it. Well I don't! These Daiso pens look amazing. I gave one to my wife and kept the other. The ink was incredibly easy to install, and within a few minutes the ink found its way to the nib so I could write. It took a little getting used to, but once I got the hang of it, this pen wrote incredibly smooth. I like the medium nib, and found that the medium is comparable to the medium Tul pens that I normally write with. I can see myself using this pen for a while!
