Beautiful shading and high water resistance.

I used this ink in a TWSBI Broad, and was overjoyed. Being iron gall based, it writes as a bright vivid blue, darkening as it dries to a more subdued and pale shade. It's fairly dry compared to other inks, and didn't feather for me even when used on cheap printer paper. It shades beautifully on higher quality papers, with a dusty sheen that almost pops off the page. It's high water resistance is just icing on the cake, easily withstanding full submersion. I'll definately be adding this ink to my wishlist.

Good Ink.

This ink is great for writing. A LOT more in the Blue side. However, what made this ink stand out for me (compared to Noodler's and Diamine inks that I generally use in my Lamy Fine nib pens) is that it did NOT bleed through on the paper that I take church notes on! That paper is thin/cheap and nearly every other ink I have used in my Lamy pens (fine) has bleed through, making the other side practically useless. This ink, however, did NOT bleed through! Definitely gets points in my book for that! However, it is no where near black (in my opinion).

A worthy competitor to other iron gall blue blacks

Goes down a nice, almost vid blue and darkens to a grey-blue-black, smooth writing though less lubricious than Platinum's carbon ink. Highly water resistant. the bottle has a nice tillable feature like Pelikan and Waterman bottles to make it easier to get the ink out when the level is down. Just wish they were larger bottles30ml is a bit twee.

Platinum Blue Black

My favorite ink, bar none. This ink performs perfectly, is pretty, and the more I use it, the more I fall in love with it. This is in my permanent rotation.

A favorite Blue-Black

More blue than black and sometimes grayish. Very nice flowing ink.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
