Our Goulet-exclusive Invincia design! Black Sparkle City features a black lacquered metal base, with fun sparkle and shimmer overtop throughout the cap and barrel. It is not coated, so you can feel the texture of the sparkle, making for a really beautiful and unique design!

Assembled by hand, this mid-weight pen is ergonomically balanced and is comfortable to hold, perfect for daily writing. It fills via standard international ink cartridges or converter (included).

Each special edition pen is individually numbered on the bottom of the barrel.

This fountain pen is offered with your choice of a reliable, smooth-writing German made JoWo #6 black steel nib in extra-fine, fine, medium, broad, 1.1mm stub or the new JoWo Omniflex flexible steel nib for variation in line width. With six nib options, you are sure to find a selection to fit your handwriting style.

Our note about the JoWo Omniflex nib: This flex nib will allow you to experience more bounce and softness than writing with conventional nibs. You can achieve some line variation with a little additional downward pressure, to a point. We recommend flexing the nib to about twice the line width that you would see without using any pressure. Please take care to avoid pressing too hard on the nib, as over-flexing could prevent the tines from returning fully to their original position and decrease or stop your ink flow.

A Stunner

Lovely pen! The glitter is so sparkly and I love that it's textured rather than being smoothed over as it adds more grip. The nib writes smoothly and the ink flows consistently.

Very nice pen, very good price.

I love this pen. I actually bought two of them. I have this sparkly one and the Graphite one. Both I am very happy with and would definitely advise a purchase. Metal Barrel with a **** on metal cap. It posts wonderfully. I actually prefer the quality of this post to my Visconti Mythos, which was twice the price. I can't recommend this pen enough, especially since it has been on sale for some time. I bought both in an omniflex nib, but I purchased a fine nib as a spare. I have yet to try that out, but I'm confident it will work just as well. Monteverde seems to be quality brand.

Sparkle A-Plenty!

Like the **** Tracy character name checked in the review title, this pen is uniquely beautiful. It's a "just another classic fountain pen" shape, but the sparkle on black background pushes it completely out of that dull anonymous pen zone. It's intensely sparkly, full spectrum color sparkly. Sparkly can look cheap or ironic but that's not true here, the sparkle really looks classy and fun.

I like how the sparkle textures the pen and makes it non-slip. I wish the writing grip area was similarly textured. It's a nice size pen, not chunky not skinny, and has a nice heft to it with the weight well distributed. While there are threads on the pen to hold the posted cap, I'm not a cap posting guy (I feel like it makes most pens top heavy.) The weight and length of the pen body is (to me) perfect without the cap on board, and when I tried writing with the cap posted, it felt weird and top heavy. Note: that may just be particular to me, who's not used to writing with a posted cap.

I got a medium nib. I thought it'd be fun to use Diamine Night Sky ink (black with silver shimmer) to match the pen. Probably not a good choice - I've had a few stoppages, surprising because in other Monteverde #6 medium nib pens shimmer hasn't been a problem. When it writes it's smooth on Tomoe or similar paper, but doesn't put down a big ing load. This pen is a "skinny" medium compared to a couple other Monteverde medium nib pens I have. I've ordered a broad nib unit to swap in... because really, a pen that glitters like this should be writing with a black sparkly ink like Night Sky.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use this pen with ink cartridges? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A cartridge is small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write!

This pen uses standard international ink cartridges, a common size which is available in many colors from various brands.

You can learn more about how to actually install an ink cartridge on our blog, or in this video tutorial:

How do I use a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go. From there, you can fill your fountain pen from bottled ink.

A converter is a detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter.

We have a great video showing how to use a converter here:

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.
