Pilot is pleased to announce the latest edition to our fountain pen collections: Iro-Utsushi. These dip pens are a combination of Pilot’s stainless-steel laser cut nibs with the body of a traditional dip pen. The stainless-steel nibs are also rust-free.

This translucent blue resin dip pen comes equipped with a Pilot steel nib. Iro-Utsushi utilizes the same pen point in the nib that is found in other Pilot fountain pens, offering extreme durability and the nib won’t wear out over time and use like other common dip pens.

Pilot’s Iro-Utsushi dip pens are a fantastic way to change and test a variety of ink colors. Simply submerge the nib into your ink of choice up to the designated line that is engraved on the nib, remove the dip pen from the ink, and begin your smooth-writing experience. To switch colors, clean the nib with water and wipe it completely dry.

Nice simple dip pen in medium nib

Enjoying this dip pen. Writes well, easy to clean. The light blue is a pretty color. I wish it had stub nib options!

Holds a surprising amount of ink

The nib is super smooth, and it held a lot more ink than I expected, plenty for a sentence and some swatch scribbles. I plan to use this for ink testing and samples.

Smooth writing!!!

This is my first dip pen, although I've used fountain pens all my life. The medium nib seems more like a fine nib, and there's very little feedback when writing with it. Ironically, this makes it more difficult to write with, because it moves across the paper so smoothly. But I like the size and feel of the pen, and I will continue to practice with various inks and types of paper. Overall, a good purchase.

Dip Pens are Ridiculously Fun!

(Yes, this is the same review on all four pens. I bought one of each... Blue Resin, Clear Resin, Black Wooden, and Brown Wooden)Absolutely fantastic! I've been using them all day and they are so fun! I normally use Fine size Japanese nibs, but these mediums are pretty nice. Just got to write a little larger so it's legible. My handwriting is horrible, but you can get a decent idea of how they perform with different inks. Noodler's Blue-Black and Noodler's Liberty's Elysium didn't spread or feather as much as the others. This is also general quality copy paper, not fancy journal paper. I highly recommend picking at least one up and giving it a try. It's hilariously fun!
