Traveler's Notebook - Brown (Regular)

The simple and rustic texture is self-assertive in an unobtrusive way.

This is the starter's kit of the Traveler's Notebook. It comes in a package which contains a cowhide cover, simple, blank notebook, a cotton case, and a spare rubber band (of different color).

The more you use it, the more taste the texture of the cowhide cover acquires. The leather cover, whose texture is naive yet attractive, is made in Chiang Mai. They "chop" cowhide, tanned with tannin taken from plants, into pieces. Then, rubber is tied to the piece with tin clasps. It's as simple as that.

Insistence on the best writing comfort. Notebook refills are made of Midori's original diary paper, developed especially for the best writing comfort possible. You can write on it with a fountain pen with little need to worry about bleeding. In pursuit of the best writing experience possible, the paper is carefully crafted in Japan.

Go on a journey! The perfect size for carrying. You can put small maps and tickets, etc. in the notebook.

Customized for you! The simple design lends itself to the colors of your choice. As you use the notebook more and more, the leather will develop a richer color and will become imbued with your individuality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I actually use it ! I have wasted a small fortune over the years trying to use schedule books and journals. Daytimers and Day Runners end up partially used and then trashed and leave me feeling a bit guilty for wasting the money. I live a full life at a dead run and lose track of the accessories easily. The Midori broke the pattern for me and since the purchase has been a constant companion. It has become my on the go secretary and training journal. It is surprisingly rugged and the various refills are formatted perfectly for my purposes . The Midori is like my favorite pair of work boots which are broken in , comfortable and begged to be used !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Planner/Notebook I do a lot of international travel and have found that a planner is essential for me to keep all of my times straight. I also find that I often need to take notes during meetings, while flying, and riding the train. I used to have to carry around 3-4 different books and ended up with a ton of sprawl, especially on the airplane. This book eliminates the sprawl! I now have everything in a nice and tidy package, plus I feel a little bit like Indiana Jones with this thing. I have it set up with a planner, blank notebook, and a lined notebook. One of the best purchases I have ever made. I would also save your money on the pen loop as the clip on your pen will work just fine, especially a spring loaded one like the one on the pictured Loom, or Lamy 2000.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did I Seriously Spend This on a Flap of Leather? Yes I did. I loved the idea of a single notebook to carry everything I normally carry: a planner, daily lists, a notebook for story ideas and other random things, and whatnot. The flexibility of the thing is good. I'm experimenting with notebooks and discovering my best arrangement. The Midori allows experimentation. It is minimal enough that I can adapt it my way instead of what some company thinks I should do. Naturally, I like the looks of the thing. The paper also works great with my fountain pens. There are other inserts that work nicely: the folders, the card holders, and others. All of them further increase the flexibility. This is a nice, very flexible system. It can be modified how the user wants.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Midori Madness! This Midori Traveler's Notebook is so amazing! The leather is so soft and supple that it ages to look wonderfully rustic! It does have a noticeable chemical smell, as Mr. Goulet mentions in his video, but it fades quickly and is not bothersome. The paper is high quality and even though there is some ghosting with wider nibs and darker inks, there is no bleed through or feathering with any of the ink/pen combos I've tried so far! The possibilities for personalization are endless, making the Traveler's notebook anybody's new best accessory!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my MTN! I adore my MTN. Shipping from Goulet Pens was super fast as always. The MTN does have an awful smell when you open it (due to the leather tanning process, I believe), but if you leave it in a well ventilated area, the smell will completely disappear in a few days, leaving only that wonderful leather smell. The leather ages to a gorgeous patina the longer you use it. As stated in the videos done by Brian, all the Midori inserts are compatible with fountain pens. I use my Lamy, and have no issues with it. Love this product, and will continue to give Goulet Pens my business!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from That Sinking Feeling... After I received this, I had a sinking feeling as I realized that I had just paid almost $60 for a piece of leather. I had thought about this purchase for months, and I felt like I hadn't thought hard enough. But, I started using the thing. Here is the deal: the notebook looks good. More to the point, the notebook replaces several that I have carried. I have my monthly calendar, a record of each day, my lists for each day, my notebook for ideas, and my notebook for notes on meetings and such. This notebook means that I now have a much smaller daily carry, and I love that I can trade the notebooks in and out. I have the following inserts: 3 notebooks which include 1 with thin paper (idea notebook), 1 with normal blank paper (notes on meetings), and one with graph paper for my Bullet Journal. In addition, I have a Kraft folder. Down the road, I will need a monthly calendar. I think I will get rid of the meeting notebook. I'm better off doing this on regular paper. It's worth it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pricy, but well worth it! The Midori Travelers Notebook is really a notebook covered with a lot of publicity, and many would agree it's an amazing tool. However, many stay at bay from the notebook due to the steep price on it. Being a high school student, one could imagine how strapped for money I and my peers always are. Purchasing this took a lot of research and a bit of impulse. The point I'm getting to, even if you consider this an extremely expensive item for "what it is", you're buying so much more than just a great system included when buying the notebook, but you are indoctrinated into a club of other fellow traveler notebook'ers. As soon as you open your Travelers Notebook from its amazing packaging, you wont be disappointed, I promise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Notebook that gets better each time! I am in Europe currently traveling for six months and this notebook is behaving beautifully each time I put it in. Terrific for sliding in papers or a letter from/for someone. Overall, I'm very satisfied with it!
