This Sheaffer 100 fountain pen features a coffee brown-colored lacquered metal body, accented by gold-plated trim and a gold-plated medium steel nib. It features a satisfying snap cap that posts securely onto the back of the barrel when writing. I really like this pen. Nib is smooth and the color of the pen is great.

Lovely writing instrument, consistent, reliable…brown, fine

My very first fountain pen was a “cartridge” pen and was a cheap Sheaffer pen I used in grammar school. It must have cost a couple of dollars then. It still writes beautifully now. I have a warm spot in my heart for Sheaffer. This Sheaffer 100 pen is sturdy (metal), writes beautifully, consistent, smooth with the right amount of feedback and is a pleasure to use. I highly recommend this pen, especially if you’ve had positive experiences in the past. It has been an oft-neglected brand. Even though the original brand changed hands, the new owner of this brand has done a good job with it.

I paired this with noodler’s walnut brown ink and I love the richness of this deep brown which is very close match color wise to the pen barrel.

I really wish they would bring back peacock blue, making sure it is safe and has some water resistance. It was a lovely color that left us many years ago. Why haven’t they done this??

Smoothest Pen EVER

I love this pen, it writes so smooth and rather wet. I have the medium nib and it truly is the smoothest writer I own. I also love how short the nib is, feels a little more precise than other pens. Perfectly weighted and probably my favorite converter I’ve ever used. It’s just a well crafted pen.

Impressed

Ordered this with a fine nib and loaded it up with Monteverde Copper Noir. It is smaller than I expected. I do not post pens when writing. While originally a little disappointed with the size, I find myself reaching for this pen often. It writes very smooth with no scratch or drag at all. The materials are beautiful and the pen is very well made. I'm glad I waited a bit to write the review. I would have given it 4 starts at first but, having used it for a couple of weeks now, I would give it 5 starts. A very nice pen. Very nice...

My first pen

This is my first pen. The first thing I noticed is the weight as I held the pen in my palm. When I held the pen for writing it felt just right. The second thing I noticed was how smooth it wrote. I have been using a pencil for writing in my journal and there is a very noticeable difference.

How do I fill this fountain pen from an ink cartridge?

A cartridge is small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write!

This pen uses proprietary Sheaffer ink cartridges, which are available in a few colors.

How do I use a converter?

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go. From there, you can fill your fountain pen from bottled ink.

A converter is a detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter.

How do I clean this fountain pen?

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.
