Sailor 1911 King of Pens Wabi Sabi Fountain Pen - Kiwami (Limited Edition)
This Sailor King of Pen (KOP) size writing instrument embodies the ancient Japanese spiritual concept of Wabi Sabi—finding beauty in quiet simplicity, humble objects, and the unconventional texture of time and aging. The pen captures this profound aesthetic through its unique construction.
The pen is developed and finished by renowned Urushi artist Wayo Shimamori. It features the highly complex Irogasane Sabinuri technique, an intricate application of Urushi lacquer that creates a deep, multi-layered visual texture, reflecting the natural, evolving beauty of the Wabi Sabi concept.
It is crafted from premium Ebonite, providing a unique warmth and feel in the hand that is prized by collectors.
The heart of the pen is Sailor's signature, oversized 21K solid gold King of Pen nib, finished with gold plating.
Urushi lacquer is made of sap from trees grown only in East Asian countries that take 15 years to reach maturity. After years of patience and care, the sap is then harvested and mixed into lacquer, hand applied to the ebonite pen surface, and kept in high humidity until it sets into a lustrous finish that is waterproof and extraordinarily durable.
This fountain pen comes with a Sailor proprietary converter, a proprietary Sailor ink cartridge, a pen sleeve, and a cleaning cloth. It is limited to 20 pieces worldwide.
Note: the Wabi Sabi pens are not designed to have the cap posted; this is to protect the Sabinuri Urushi lacquer.
