A must have for the pen, cartridges are nice and you can refill with ink of your choice. Converter option is nice for ink color changeovers

No Issues!

These piston converters have been working flawlessly in the Brass Sport I've been using. I'm planning to replace the cartridges with piston converters in all my Kaweco Sport pens. And, great service from GouletPens.com!

Inconsistent Fit: bubbling and leakage

I'm using these in a Kaweco Sport, and I wonder how they're supposed to function for a "pocket pen". I can barely use the pen reliably at my desk without the converter coming loose, and that's both with and without silicone grease to aid the seal. I can't imagine how this would go for someone who genuinely tried to carry one around in their pocket.

I've gone through multiple of the converters and while they might start out functional, they quickly become so loose as to make it hard to reliably write a letter.

I've seen folks in a similar position in forums discussing what size of spring to seat in the body of the pen to maintain pressure and prevent the converter from unseating.

Easily my least favorite converter.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter is a cartridge-shaped reservoir that allows you to use bottled fountain pen ink, when a cartridge would otherwise be your only option. Fountain pens that have this option are usually referred to as a cartridge/converter pen, or C/C for short.

How do I use a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go. From there, you can fill your fountain pen from bottled ink.

A converter is a detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter.

We have a great video showing how to use a converter here:

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.
