This 30ml glass bottle of Jacques Herbin Bleu Myosotis blue fountain pen ink is elegantly labeled and has an integrated pen rest. Jacques Herbin ink is non-toxic and pH neutral, water based, flows smoothly, and uses all natural dyes.

Bleu myosotis ("Forget-me-not" blue) was named after the flower of that very same name. Based on the famous legend, a knight and his lady were taking a walk along the river. He bent over to pick up a flower for his lady but lost his balance with the weight of its armor and fell into the river. While drowning he threw the flower at his lady screaming "Forget-me-not". Thanks to that legend the myosotis had become the symbol of memory and remembrance. The bleu myosotis is also the closest color to the standard and traditional blue ink used by every French pupil.

A Fall Color

Though the French name refers to forget-me-not flowers, I bought this because it's a close match to chickory, a very common autumn flower around here. It's a really beautiful and well-behaved ink, dark enough to read, but still comes across as a medium blue. Does well on cheap paper.

I'm a sucker for blue inks!

Herbin Bleu Myosotis is very slightly grayed but NOT dull; a very pleasing blue. And the "toned down" character is only discernible when compared to more vivid blues. When this bottle is empty, I'll purchase another. It flows well in my TWSBI Vac Mini (medium nib). While it goes on wet, it dries quickly. An excellent choice for a journal and a color that will delight the eye. I do a lot of writing for the purpose of memorizing � a habit I've had since a was a kid � so I go through a lot of paper. For this kind of writing I use an inexpensive glue-top tablet from Office Depot. None of my inks feather on this paper, yet the slower drying ones will smear. Bleu Myosotis doesn't. The attached blue ink swatch page will show that this ink may lean very, very slightly toward periwinkle, as does Diamine Blue Velvet, and Pilot Iroshizuku Ajisai. Herbin Bleu Nuit (purchased from Goulet) and Noodler Bad Belted Kingfisher lean slightly green (especially Bleu Nuit). The blue ink that I have yet to try in a pen is the more recently purchased Diamine Polar Glow (may try it today!). All the others I've used enough that I can recommend them and beautiful and well-behaved.

Not the best Herbin

I love Herbin inks, I'm a fan of Bleu Pervenche et �clat de Saphir. This one flows considerably less well than the inks I tried so far, however. I feel my fountain pen tends to skip with this ink, which it doesn't do with the other inks I use. Not sure if this makes sense, but I observed this every time I tried Bleu Myosotis. The color is nice, albeit a bit pale - it dries significantly paler, in fact. I'm not going to order a bottle of this and will stick to the other Herbin blues I know and like!

Fading (?) Ink

I got this in my Beginner to Fountain Pen Ink sample set, and I am in love with this blue! It is such a pretty shade. That being said, on writing, it shows up as a vibrant, dark blue, but after some time, it fades to a pale, dusty blue/lilac colour.

This ink has a great blue-violet color! It isn't obtrusive, and it is very easy to read. It also seems to be more water-resistant than other ink brands, i'm not sure if that is true for all J. Herbin Inks. Overall, a great ink, I would definitely recommend it!

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink.
