This LED-lit 10x loupe is just the tool to help you get to know your nib better. So often a scratchy fountain pen nib is simply a matter of having the tines misaligned, and a loupe will make your life much easier when it comes time to try to align them.

This loupe features a wide viewing field which is great for those with little experience viewing their fountain pen nib under magnification. There are stronger-powered loupes out there, but this one strikes a nice balance between ease of use, affordability, and magnification. Sure, you can spend more on loupes with better optics, but for the casual enthusiast this loupe will be well-suited for casual inspection of your pens and nibs. It's pretty cool to look at your ink on the paper under magnification, too!

The LED lights are really nice for inspecting your nib, because you don't have to worry about having special lighting when looking at your nib. It's not a requirement though, so you can choose to use the built-in lights or not. The LEDs do require three AAA batteries, which are not included

These loupes are higher quality than the white loupes we sold from 2013-2017. The Carton 10x loupes are made in Taiwan, and we spent months testing a variety of different loupes from around the world before deciding on these as the primary loupe offering in our store.

Works just as advertised

It's perfect for examining nibs and other projects where a magnifying glass isn't powerful enough for the task. The loupe's light is bright, but not too bright to become distracting. I recommend this product.

Great!

This is a great inexpensive loupe. Being new to fountain pens this helped me in making sure my nibs were aligned properly and had no obstructions. If you are having difficulty getting a clear view through this loupe make sure to watch Drew's video (Youtube: Using a Loupe with a Fountain Pen - Basics) on how to use it. I have also found if your view is distorted or blurry, slightly changing the angle of the loupe (downward in my case) helped clear things up.

Not that useful

Can't really see my nibs using this loupe. Little better than guesswork.

Flawed design

Three issues: 1. The loupe does not have a stabilizer or eye socket to guide the focal point of the loupe;2. The light is too strong and therefore useless, as most nibs are metal and will reflect the light directly at your eyes, effectively making you unable to see the nib itself; 3. Why use a 4.5v light that requires 3 batteries? There are 1.5v lights that require only a single battery and are as bright; spending 10$ on 3 batteries is not acceptable for such a useless light. In conclusion, you'd be better off spending 20$ funding development of a plastic nib than buying this tool;

Poor resolution/ magnification

This magnifier is handy to use and seems ideal in design, unfortunately the magnification is really closer to 7X than the promised 10X. Also, it is difficult to get a sharp view without distortion. The light also seems angled too far away to cast a proper illumination on the target. Very Disappointing.
