The new Conklin Herringbone series combines the vintage appeal with modern bold style and elegance. The unique Herringbone pattern itself is achieved by using a very precise computerized engraving machine to cut the deep pattern on airplane-grade aluminum. This elegant pattern, reminiscent of the Conklin crescent shape, is seen underneath a special translucent colored acrylic and coated with several layers of epoxy for protection and brightness. The heavy chromium clip also is engraved with the legendary “Conklin” trademarked name and font and the center ring is engraved with the Conklin “Herringbone” name surrounded by several Conklin crescent shapes on each side. This burgundy fountain pen comes with a #6 two-tone steel medium nib, a converter, and a cartridge.

Conklin Herringbone Fountain Pen - Burgundy, Medium is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Enigma This pen is somewhat of an enigma. First, it is an extraordinarily beautiful pen. It catches light like no other. Beyond looks, it has a unique feel as well. The herringbone pattern and finish gives it tactile elegance. The presentation box is well constructed and one of the best. But my pen has problems. This is my first Conklin pen, so I don’t know if these problems are common to the model, the brand, or just my individual pen. It leaks between the metal part of the grip and the plastic housing for the feed. It is not a bad leak, but it will ink your fingers. It also seems to have issues with the nib drying out too quickly. A couple of issues with the model itself: the metal grip is slippery, the clip is incredibly stiff making it difficult to use, and the cap is heavy which makes the pen unbalanced or back-weighted when posted. Having said all of that I am giving the pen three stars and recommending. It probably doesn’t deserve three stars, but the finish is too grand to give the pen just two stars. Hopefully, the leak problems are just something with my individual pen
