This Monteverde Regatta Sport fountain pen features bands of bright orange metal with alternating bands of black carbon fiber, complemented by gunmetal trim. You'll love the satisfying feeling that comes with the magnetic closure for both capping and posting the fountain pen. The weight and balance of this refined sporty collection creates a supreme writing performance. It fills via standard international ink cartridges or converter (included).

This fountain pen is offered with your choice of a reliable, smooth-writing German made JoWo #6 black steel nib in extra-fine, fine, medium, broad, 1.1mm stub or the new JoWo Omniflex flexible steel nib for variation in line width. With six nib options, you are sure to find a selection to fit your handwriting style.

Our note about the JoWo Omniflex nib: This flex nib will allow you to experience more bounce and softness than writing with conventional nibs. You can achieve some line variation with a little additional downward pressure, to a point. We recommend flexing the nib to about twice the line width that you would see without using any pressure. Please take care to avoid pressing too hard on the nib, as over-flexing could prevent the tines from returning fully to their original position and decrease or stop your ink flow.

Very Nice

This pen has a great balance in the hand, especially when posted. The nib has a pleasant springiness to it, and writes indistinguishably in line width to an extra fine Lamy with the extra fine nib, but with a much smoother writing experience. The textured band between the carbon fiber and marbling makes for a pleasant experience when just fiddling with the pen, and the click of the magnetic cap, both closing and posting, makes for a good fidget as well.

Nib peels

The Monteverde Regatta pen I ordered - the gorgeous Northern Lights edition - is larger than I expected. The pen is made from solid, beautiful materials It has a nice weight and is well balanced. I like the magnetic cap. The most important thing, of course, is that it writes well and consistently. The striking black nib, however, had the black coating begin to peel off after only light-to-moderate use.

A Pleasing Pen Purchase

I just love the feel and function of this pen. Being new to fountain pens, I am building a collection of 'reasonably priced' pens and this pen, in my opinion and budget, proves to me that I don't have to spend $1000 for a pen that performs well. Now, I don't know what I don't know, so as I progress with my collecting I'm sure I will realize the craftsmanship of a finer pen. My goal is to build a collection at the same time as I introduce my grandchildren to the art of handwriting with a fountain pen. My bonus is that my journaling is a new experience with this pen. Thank you

Just like Mary Poppins, 'Perfect in every way!'

An issue occurred with the original Regatta pen received. Contacted Goulet Pens and spoke with Jessica. Within 12 minutes she had diagnosed the problem with the original pen and had made arrangements for a replacement to be sent as well as the return of the original pen. No amount of money could have been spent to improve this transaction. Irrespective of the products offered by Goulet Pens, her attentiveness and concern for my satisfaction is the the true measure of the quality provided by Goulet Pen Company. Thank You so very much!

Monteverde Regatta Sport - orange

I love the design and feel of this pen but had trouble with skips and dry starts with the JoWo medium nib. Goulet was wonderful in addressing the problem but even a free replacement nib didn't change anything. I am reluctantly returning the pen. I'm sure a nib-smith could make adjustments if I had the time to take this further. Many thanks to Goulet for excellent customer service and follow-through!

FAQs about Fountain Pens

How do I fill a fountain pen with ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It depends on the pen's filling mechanism, which you can find in the Technical Specs section above.

Here's a quick definition of the most common filling mechanisms:

  • Cartridge - A small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write! Check out our quick guide here.
  • Converter - A detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter. Here's a video for how to fill a cartridge/converter pen using a LAMY pen as an example.
  • Eyedropper - A pen that utilizes the entire barrel as a reservoir for ink. Ink is directly filled into the barrel, allowing for a high ink capacity. Here's a video on how to do it!
  • Piston - A type of filling system that uses a retracting plunger inside a sealed tube to draw ink into a pen. They are typically either twist or push-operated. These pens cannot accept cartridges or a converter, and only fill from bottled ink.
  • Vacuum - A push-style piston that uses pressure to fill the large pen body with ink. They seal the ink chamber when closed, making it ideal for flying without risk of leaking. Check out our video on how to use a vac filler here.

Check out more info on these filling mechanisms including a video on how to fill each one on our blog.

How do I clean a fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It depends on the filling mechanism, but it mostly comes down to flushing it out with water, and sometimes a little bit of Pen Flush if the ink is really stuck.

It's a bit easier to show than to tell, so we've put together a few quick videos showing you the process:

How often do I need to clean my fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors.

Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.

My pen won’t write! What do I do? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

First things first... make sure you have ink in the pen! Be sure that the ink cartridge or converter is seated properly in the pen, and that you aren't out of ink.

We always recommend you give your pen a good cleaning first, using our Goulet Pen Flush, or a drop of dish soap in some water. New pens often have some machining oil residue left in the feed, so a good cleaning often does the trick first.

If that still doesn't work, try priming the feed. This consists of either dipping your pen nib and feed in ink, or forcing ink from the converter down into the feed.

If it’s still not working after that, please reach out to us so we can help!

What's your return policy? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

You can submit a return request within 30 days of your order date. You can read all our Return Policies here.

To initiate a return, please submit a request at the Return Portal. Our Customer Care team might reach out to you for more information.

Please note we are unable to accept a return of any Namiki or Sailor Bespoke fountain pen for any reason once it has been used with ink. Please thoroughly inspect and dry test the pen before use.
