Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why the hoopla, just use it and see... I have several different blacks in offering in my ink box, and I thought "what's the fuss about Aurora Black all about". A tad on the spendy side, but what the heck I use black all the time.... Wow! the flow is smooth, the color is the most intense black I have used in a fountain pen! All others I have used have some underlying pigment that reflects through, green, blue, brown, but not this one. Clear, crisp BLACK- the black one gets on a Xerox copy! And no bleed through (also a big plus on cheap paper). I even like the tall square bottle. I shall use this one from now on.... Now what to do with all the other Blacks?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice black, but not my favorite This is a particularly nice *feeling* black ink--it has a good flow, seems to slightly lubricate nibs, and cleans relatively easily--certainly with less effort than Noodler's black or Sailor's pigmented black. But unlike the Noodler's or the Sailor (or PR's Invincible) I don't find it as dark as I prefer my black inks be. In any of my F or M nibs this tends to shade from a dark grey to a medium black. I'd recommend this ink to anyone in need of a very low maintenance black or anyone looking for nice shading in their blacks but it just wasn't for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An increasingly hard to find ink Aurora Black is one of my favorite inks. Very black, very smooth. It seems to write well in every pen. It's been hard to find lately, and it was out of stock when I looked at Goulet Pens site. As soon as it was back in stock, bingo! Two bottles of very black ink at my door. Thanks! You guys are really quick to get the products to us addicts, er, pen fans.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What they're saying is true, folks.... I quickly came to feel the same way about Aurora Black. This is BLACK, people. Noodler's Black (*the* standard for comparison, evidently) is very nice, too, and it (Noodler's) may be BULLETPROOF--but that's not important to me. No feathering. No "shading." Not "wet" at all--the drying time is normal. Flow is perfect in every pen I've tried it in. In other words--a *perfect* black, in a perfectly-behaved, reasonably-priced ink.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought a Lamy Safari and Aurora Black ink Lamy Safari first of all was an amazing buy for a first fountain pen and being a left-hander. Unimaginable fluidity coupled with a funky smoothness made this an absolute winner for me. Couple this with the Aurora black ink which was a super dark black ink that dried so quickly, it is a winning combination for sure. The service of this website is nothing short of amazing and handwritten note from Alex Ross shows a personal touch which I do appreciate. I WILL buy from you guys again soon that's for sure!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Black Deep dark black. As nice as J. Herbin Perle Noire. Also a wet black as it seems quite lubricated. It's my go to black. If permanence was a concern I'd use Noodler's black instead.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not quite dark enough. I've been on the hunt for the blackest, non-shading, well behaved, velvety black ink. I ordered this sample based on several good reviews and recommendations, but alas, it doesn't quite fit the bill. It is a very dark and well saturated black and seems to flow and lubricate well in the pens I've used it in. However, in comparison to Visconti Black and Levenger Raven Black (my current favorites), it seems to be a touch lighter. I also noted that this ink does seem to shade a small amount as well. It's a very nice ink, but I think my search is continuing.
