Clairefontaine Classic Clothbound Notebook - Lined (8.27 x 11.69) is rated 4.875 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite Notebooks Ever I love these notebooks, and order new ones every semester for all of my classes. The large page size allows me to fit a hefty amount of notes on each page, which is great for engineering lectures. The paper quality alone is spectacular, and combined with all of the other great aspects, these notebooks really stand above all of the rest. You might think the cloth binding inhibits the ease-of-use, as you cannot fully flatten the notebook when it is open, but it is more than worth it. The binding actually adds to the durability of the notebook - there is almost zero percent chance that any of your pages will fall or rip out, even when used heavily in an academic setting. I barely notice the slight bend when I am writing, and would much prefer clothbound to rip-prone spiralbound notebooks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of France, Found in Italy! I first purchased a Clairefontaine journal in Italy in 1997 and was heartbroken when I dropped it in a mud puddle one day, thinking I would never have a chance to own another. When I found them again online years later, I was overjoyed. I love good paper and have tried a variety of different brands - I keep coming back to Clairefontaine over and over and over again! One of my favorite pens to use with this paper is Uni-Ball's Signo. Best of all, this bright white paper showcases the different Signo colors well and absorbs the ink quickly, which is good because, as a lefty, I tend to smear ink easily.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great paper, but so-so on the lie-flat part ... This is great paper: silky smooth, great line spacing, no bleed-through ... you've heard it all before. And the service? Well, it's Goulet so it's great, of course. Here's the thing ... it's not entirely a "lie-flat" notebook. Perhaps because the paper isn't divided into signatures (those are the 8-16 sheet "groupings" you'll find in the webbie, etc). Instead, the paper is bound as one large stack. I would imagine this reduces costs significantly (these notebooks are very reasonably priced). However, it also means that it's very difficult to eliminate the center "hump" until you're in the middle 50% of the notebook. At the beginning and at the end, don't be surprised if you're writing over a hump. Otherwise, it's an excellent product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yet another product that's exactly like Brian says It's great paper, this one will be used for an as yet unknown purpose. Most of my notebooks were Sustainable Earth, and now the store is dropping the line. they can be ordered, but so can these, and the paper is much better. Have you ever had a flex-pen scratch into the paper? It happens more on cheap comp books, sometimes on moleskines, but I couldn't get Ahab to harpoon the smooth whiteness of the page. not even a freckle of bleed through. It's just brilliant.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything you would expect . . . I came into the purchase of Clairefontaine paper with high expectations, as many others both on YouTube and the FPN seem to hold this paper up on an incredibly high pedestal. Fortunately for myself, my first experience held up to the promises that had been made and I've since fallen in love with this paper. But perhaps my favorite part of this purchase is just the fact that I won't have to buy more for quite some time, as the amount of sheets included and their size will leave me well supplied for a good long while. I would recommend this as an accessory for anyone who truly wants to taste what real fine paper is like, and for the asking price it shouldn't be too much of a leap for anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great paper Being my first "premium" paper purchase, I was surprised with the paper. I love writing on it to take notes and do homework. On the other hand, it does not sit flat, which makes using the left side of the notebook hard. I have two, so I usually prop the second one up underneath the left side of the notebook when I need to write there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Paper I've ever Written On This notebook was my first foray into any quality paper other than my Moleskine. It's smooth and makes writing a dream. My only issue with it, and it's completely a personal thing, is that the margins and spaces are wide, and I have small handwriting, so I feel like there's a lot of wasted space. But other than that, I'm definitely stocking up on Clairefontaine paper in various sizes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely paper; maybe not needed with Noodler's I've been buying these notebooks for about 10 years (from other sources before I learned of Goulet, now from Goulet). The paper is smooth, very thick, spidering-proof, and just excellent all round. I used to track down these notebooks from obscure shops since 90 pct of notebooks and tablets meant for the mass market (read: biro users!) have, in my 20-year experience, resulted in spidering with fountain pen ink. Unfortunately for Clairefontaine, I have recently started using Noodler's ink. (Yes, I'm years late to that party.) Since it can be used even on kitchen paper, kraft paper, newsprint, etc. without spidering (!!!), these Clairefontaine books are now a luxury, not a necessity. If budget constraints force me to stop using them, I will miss them dearly!
