The Noodler's Baystate inks are slightly different formulas than conventional fountain pen inks. They are designed to be more vibrant than other inks and have a slightly basic pH-level, and as a result they are prone to staining and should not be mixed with other non-Baystate inks. If staining should occur, a solution of 10% household bleach and 90% distilled water will clean it up. If you have any particularly rare or valuable pens, you may want to avoid using Baystate inks in them.

Good April 12, 2014

It is different from other inks. It has a smell and when you open it you see bubbles... Great blue but I'll think to buy it again because I'm afraid to put it in pen except noodlers pens.

Wonderful - Dedicate a pen April 8, 2014
Reviewer: Walter Willis from Suwanee, GA United States
This is wonderful ink. It does stain but will come clean with bleach. Also, as Nathan says, it should not be mixed with any inks other than other Baystate inks. For this reason I have dedicated a pen to it and cleaned the pen well before the first fill. With this practice I have NEVER had an issue. If you are worried about it, start with the Preppy that comes with it and see how you like it - keep that pen dedicated to Baystate. Brian's team will even convert it to eyedropper at purchase time so you won't need to fool with silicone grease and o-rings.

But if you are careful and make sure it doesn't mix with other inks you should be fine and be able to enjoy this really bold blue ink.

Watch out for your sink March 24, 2014
Reviewer: Bruce Palmer from Charlotte, VT United States
I love this ink.  But was very surprised the first time that I cleaned out my pen with this ink in it.  The porcelain bathroom sink where I normally do all pen cleaning was stained in a way that I'd not seen before with any other ink.  It could not be washed away.  I tried a bottle of goof-off which worked fine but I suspect that once it was dry, the goof-off might not work.  Love the ink but care take care.

Stunning Blue Stunned Me March 7, 2014
Reviewer: Kailash Singh from Chaguanas, WI Trinidad & Tobago
I am new to fountain pen and inks, but i have not seen such a bright blue that seem to pop out from the paper. The color is absolutely brilliant!!! It somewhat resembles the blue on the Goulet Logo...

The Preppy pen I got, holds an incredible amount of ink and it writes well. The preppy was already greased on the treads so the additional silicone grease i bought was not needed then, still the grease was $2.50 and worth keeping

I am a teacher and I am sure i converted some collegues into fountain pen users after they saw the brilliance of this blue ink, since no "blue ink" ball point has such color and vibrance...I have seen some gel pens come close...but this ink reverberates antiquity and nostalgia

The ink does stain the inside of a converter, I tried it in my parker vector...and this ink is highly water resistant...i submerged some text underwater and left it for a day...the text was intact and the paper was starting to deteriorate, the blue was ever so brilliant.

XLT ink, but one must be brave! March 5, 2014
Reviewer: Roger Gilbert from Hueytown, AL United States
There is a stink over many of this ink's "issues" and fortunately to the non-alchemist (those who don't mix inks) have few concerns.  I haven't seen a brighter blue yet, and once the ink dries fully (does take a minute on Hammermill paper and sticky notes) the ink is submersible and WON'T MOVE A FIBER.  It also flows great and is very slick.  I see almost no feathering, contrary to the legends.  Skrip and Manuscript inks seem to feather more to me.  It does stain so one must be careful with it. I have seen worse. ...but then again, ink is expected to stain.  Also not good for alchemy (so don't mix it).  Also not for excuisite $200+ pens due to staining.
