The name says it all May 5, 2013

Gris Nuage translates to grey cloud, and that pretty much sums up this ink. I live in the Seattle area, so I get enough of cloud grey in my life...don't really need it in my ink. This is an ink that would be invaluable for art, but is unusable for writing. It looks faded going onto the page, and dries even lighter. It does look a lot like a hard pencil, as other reviewers have said. Unlike other reviewers, however, I find it nearly impossible to read this ink.

This is a light, blue-ish gray.  Chromatically it has the appearance of a hard pencil.  Despite its lightness it's still very legible on white paper.

I decided in med school when they told me that I could only write in black ink so that attorneys could read photocopies that I would never again write in black if given a choice.  After all, why should I help someone sue me?  However, sometimes one needs a dark color.  Along comes this beautiful grey, and I absolutely love its subtlety.

Subtle February 9, 2013

I used this in a Lamy vista with a 1.5 nib and also with a Fine nib. Both nib sizes worked well on all paper except the French ruled paper. The fine nib was very hard to read on the French ruled paper and may not be the best for graph paper either - but the 1.5 nib was fine. I bought it to write thank you cards - with a larger nib pen, but I am leaving this ink in the pen with the Fine nib to journal with. I love this color. It's quiet but not boring. It shades when using the larger nib.  This is not a saturated color but it's a beautiful color if you like grays

gris nuage January 19, 2013
Reviewer: arjen from Toronto, ON Canada
Kind of a muted grey color, looks kind of like writing with a pencil (but definitely lighter than an HB). Writing with a Pilot Desk Pen (medium nib) didn't go so well, but with a Lamy Safari (medium) it wrote quite well and was quite readable even on light colored paper. Didn't really appeal to me overall.
