Excellent ink with a delightful scent September 24, 2014
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from California
I have used this ink in various Jinhao fountain pens and with a Xezo Legionnaire F fountain pen for occasional and prolonged, everyday use.  The smell is very pleasant when you open the bottle, and the color is as seen on the website.  If used in the Jinhaos, you can barely smell the scent of blackberries.  However, with the Xezo Legionnaire, with every stroke you get a delightful, but not overpowering scent of sweet blackberries.  To me, it smells like blackberries covered in sugar.  Flow rate is great whether from the Jinhaos or the Xezo.  With the Jinhao "medium" nibs, color appears lighter, possibly due to the finer line from the nibs of the Jinhaos.  The Xezo has a more true medium nib, so the color is that deep burgundy or bordeaux when it goes onto the paper and then dries to a slightly lighter shade, but still dark.  Do a fade test though as I noticed that some papers retain the ink's deep color better than others.

A delight to write with. April 22, 2014

Unlike some of the other De Atramentis inks that I have tried with more muted scents, the Blackberry has an abundant nose of fresh blackberry. The color is spot on to the fruit's juice, even as the ink leans at the edges of lines. I am a fan, and will enjoy having this ink in my regular rotation.

I Like Purple Inks July 17, 2012
Reviewer: Ben from Ogden Ut
Caran d'Ache Storm was the color that convinced me to get involved with fountain pens.  For whatever reason I really like that color.  I have purchased Diamine Damson as well as storm and like both of them.  This ink, to me, is very similar to Storm leaning to the darker. This comparison was done in my TWSBI 540 with a 1.1 stub.  It puts down a fair amount of ink.  Don't buy it expecting Storm, or Damson but something in between.  The scent is nice but you may be called upon for random drug screenings quite more frequently than random if you are observed sniffing your pen multiple times throughout the day.
