Sheaffer Skrip Red (50ml Bottle) is rated 4.6486 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This ink does exactly one thing... ...and that's exactly what I'm looking for. As has been noted before, this ink sets the bar for red inks. It's not waterproof, which given the tendency of my caps and pens to occasionally part ways in my shirt pockets is something of a blessing, and I can't say I care much for the bottle - I have an old bottle of Skrip black somewhere with the built in well, which is what I would prefer. But on the page, the color is unequivocally red. Not pink, not orange, just eye-grabbing red, with very little variation that I have noticed regardless of line width. This is just a simple red ink that cannot be mistaken for anything else. Kudos to Sheaffer for getting this exactly right, and to the Goulets for carrying it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent, smooth and well colored: I was looking for some colors in a basic, good, all around ink once I was through with the initial ink cartridges on my Lamys, and really wasn't satisfied with the color depth on the Lamy inks. I wanted a basic set of inks - already had a Cross Black from my much older foray into fountain pens - so I was looking for a blue, green, red and purple good workable basic to use and have available. Except for the green, which I was *really* picky about, the others I chose were the Sheaffer Skrip (Slovenia) Red, Purple and Blue, and I'm **very** happy with them. Very smooth, very easy to use and fluid, colors and price were right. Glad I got them!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Funny smell and then... I wrote a review of this ink in Sept. 2012 and gave it a favorable rating. Since then this ink has seemingly gone bad. Last month (Feb. 2013) was inking up a pen with the cap off my bottle of Sheaffer Red ink and I began to notice an odd smell. I traced said smell to this ink! I had not noticed this issue before. Curious, I got a stirrer and placed it down on the bottom of the bottle and sure enough I found that the ink had become quite viscous on the bottom of the bottle. There is no way that shaking the bottle was going to break up this gummy ink. So all told I think that this ink has gone bad and I cannot recommend it any more. I will report this to the Goulets as well, as I know they cannot read all of these reviews.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sheaffer Skrip Red When only a pure red will do, this is it. This is a bright in-your-face red. I have used it with a dip pen and note no shading at all, just a solid smooth line. Sometimes, isn't that all one really wants?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice red I wanted red for use with note-taking. I didn't want a red-orange, a red-yellow, or Mercurachrome color. This is it, red, just red, nicely saturated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Red This is a bold brilliant red that jumps off the page. Perfect for editing or simply making your writing stand out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from REAL RED Turns out that the Skrip Red is the REAL red color I've been searching for. I though Diamine's Passion Red was it, but this is better. Quick shipping, embalmed in plastic so no chance of spillage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Red Red I just inked my Rotring Core with this yesterday. It made it through a pretty busy day at work and it did a great job. There's no mistaking this ink for anything other than red. I mean really red. It stands out nicely on manila file folders. It smears only when provoked. It didn't feather on cheap paper. There was no real shading, but that could be as much the nib's issue as the ink's. This one has earned a place in my regular rotation. I'll be buying a bottle soon.
