Platinum Carbon Black (60ml) is rated 4.7937 out of 5 by 63.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Permanent Black I use this in the Platinum Carbon Pen and I've never had any clogging issues whatsoever. In fact, in the several months that I've owned the pen, I haven't even had to flush it yet! Because the Platinum Carbon Pen has a fine nib, the ink goes a very long way, which is helpful because the ink is on the expensive side. Carbon Black is highly waterproof (no smudging after pouring water on a written sample, even after running my finger over it). It is also highly lightfast-- written samples hung in a sunny window have not shown any significant fading whatsoever even after several months. So if you're looking for a permanent ink, this is a good one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome stuff! This has quickly become my go-to black for all document-signing purposes. It also is my standard EDC-pen ink, my Vanishing Point has been constantly inked with it since I purchased the pen. Extremely black, with a great flow and a highly-lubricated feel on the page. Extremely low feathering, even lower than Noodler's Black, and very little bleed. This ink is one of the best-behaved I've ever used. I do take the precaution of flushing my pen with each fill, though. It only takes a couple seconds to run an ear bulb of water through it, and prevents any possible build-up of particles in the feed. Probably overkill, but can't hurt!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ink I decided to try out this ink based on previous reviews. I had been using Noodler's Blacks (the Bulletproof and Polar); they are nice, but would smear with a wet finger. The Carbon Black, on the other hand, doesn't smear at all - stays put! Even better: I was using Noodler's La Reine Mauve in my Monteverde Invincia (Fine) but it was dry - this ink is smooth as silk, no skipping. Best feature: the same La Reine Mauve in my Extra Fine Vanishing point was too dry - the pen was too scratchy to be usable. I inked it up with Carbon Black, and it is now again smooth as silk - nice extra-fine line, no scratchiness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed Loaded this into a Rotring Art Pen with the Sketch F nib. It works beautifully so far, I make sure to use it daily to avoid drying. The ink flows readily, no skipping for drawing or writing. No feathering on any paper I've tried so far, this includes generic copy paper for a printer. It dries quickly, which is why you need to use it often (every 1-2 days) but is desirable for something such as field sketching, as you'll be able to use watercolor soon after placing the lines. On paper, it dries to matte black, only taking on a bit of a sheen if you place a significant amount of ink in one area.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for sketching with watercolor I, too, use this ink in a Lamy Safari. I do en plein air ink and watercolor sketches (with Urban Sketchers group!) in a sketchbook, usually Moleskine watercolor . I tried a few inks and did some standardized testing of them for drying time and water-fastness. Platinum Carbon Black was the hands down winner. Even outdoors in 45 degree damp NW weather, it dries really quickly. Indoors in a normally warm building, it dries almost instantaneously. This is the only ink I'm going to use for my art!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Ink to use with Watercolor Washes I was unhappy with the waterproof-ness of the Noodler's inks in a Stillman & Birn sketchbook: the inks (except the Lexington Gray) smeared and bled when I wanted to cover them in light watercolor washes, even after the ink dried. Several artists recommended this ink to me and it works perfectly in the Lamy Safari. I was cautioned to make sure not to let this ink dry in the pen, but I've been using it up so quickly that I haven't needed to clean the pen or worry about drying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Ink Great all around ink -- waterproof, alcohol and bleach resistant, archival quality, minimal smudging, quick drying. Heard a few complaints about it clogging pens that sit for a while, but I haven't experienced any such issues. Nice flow, easy starter. Feathers a bit on cheap paper, but what ink doesn't? On good paper, the black is deep and thick, with a really nice sheen -- looks beautiful on cream paper. It's now my go to ink (and I usually don't like black inks).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Slightly better than Noodler's black but more $ This ink is slightly better than Noodler's black as it does not 'shade' at all after writing when wetting your finger and going over your letter while Noodler's does shade a little. It is also slightly better when using watercolors after drawing wit this ink. Again, Noodler's is great but this one does not shade at all. I find Noodler's to be darker and prefer it beacause of that, but if I had to draw something requiring watercolors after it, I would use this Carbon ink. Also, it is more expensive than Noodler's (and that is a big factor if using a lot of ink) as you get 60ml for $19 while you get 90ml of Noodler's for about $12, so it actually comes to beong two times more expensive (give or take), which ends up in me using mostly Noodler's ink.
