Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Ink Purchase I am new to fountain pens and fountain pen ink. However, I love the color purple and was draw to this shade of purple. So my first bottle of ink cost twice as much as my pen! But it was worth it. It's great ink and makes me love my Pilot Metropolitan that much more. The packaging was clearly done with care. It took me some time to unpack it all. But once unwrapped, I found everything in tack and was eager to give it a try. It's a great shade of purple. How deep the shade of purple is depends on the type of paper that is being used. It flows from my pen with ease and I've yet to smear my writing. Nothing but good things to say about this ink!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Swing and a miss from Pilot. I've been trying to collect the entire line of Iroshizuku inks and so far, I've liked almost all of them. This one though was a clear miss. I bought a bottle thinking "what could go wrong, all the other inks are great?".....but I'm kinda wishing I didn't buy it. First off, yeah it's a purple ink and at a glance, when it hits the paper, it's dark purple....but when it dries, it becomes REALLY light. I'm not if this ink would perform well in a stub nib, but for anything medium or finer it's going to become outrageously under-saturated. I'm sure there are better purple inks out there, this wasn't one of them. Lesson learned, buy a sample first.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pale and watery I own 4 or 5 Iroshizuku ink bottles, this one is sadly my least favourite. It looks beautiful in the bottle and when emptied into a glass of water for pen cleaning. However, on paper it comes out deceptively thinner and paler than expected, no matter which pen I used. Great quality of ink in terms of flow but disappointed with the weak watery violet look as I like deep, bold colours :(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from About to give it away, then... I love Iroshizuku inks...I have almost all the colors in bottles or samples. I was looking for a purple and decided to go with Murasaki. I tried it in a Lamy Studio and hated it. It was so pale--like a washed out lavender. I was about to write it off and then I tried it in a Cartier Diablo. It immediately became one of my favorites. I looked through my samples to compare. It's lighter than Waterman Tender Purple and Diamine Bilberry, but it's more of a neutral "purple" than either one of those. The other color I have that's close to it is Diamine Amazing Amethyst, but that one is lighter and less vibrant. BTW, I refilled and gave it another shot in the Lamy and it came out darker. I think I may have had a little water in the nib from cleaning the first time, so it came out pale. You may or may not like it, but don't give up on it too quickly!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A real disappointment How I wanted to like this ink! But it dries to an ugly, flat color on paper even though it demonstrates the usual excellent qualities of Iroshizuku inks: well behaved in every way with excellent flow. The Goulets provided their customary superb and friendly service. I will continue to order from them (and that means ordering other Iroshizuku Inks, especially Asa Gao, Kon Peki, and Tsuyu-Kusa) because they give such excellent and professional service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite Of all the ink I have, and I have A LOT! I do think this is my favorite. The color is purple, not pink, not blue...just purple. It is not a hugely saturated ink. But the shading is stunning, especially with a Lamy 1.1 mm nib. It's performance on any kind of paper is nothing less than terrific. Whenever I go back to read something I wrote in this ink, I have to stop and admire its beauty. Writing with it is smooth and it doesn't dry too quickly. Really, this is a most wonderful ink in every respect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pretty I like this ink. It might be too light for a lot of people but it is very legible and seems a little tiny bit darker to me than the swab on my computer. I enjoyed writing with it. It dried quickly, didn't have a lot of shading (but i was using a pilot preppy pen to test it). It didn't bleed at all not on Clairefontaine and not on a cheap Walmart notebook.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delicious shade of violet I’m a big fan of purple and am on a mission to find a few that I really love. I got the Spring sampler box with this colour in it and just inked my Visconti Rembrandt with it…I was blown away by how beautiful it is. It does write rather dark but dries lighter. I found this added to the charm, it’s soft on the eyes but easy to read. Will most definitely be adding a full size bottle of this to my collection. There is no feathering or bleed through when I use it in my Fiorentina journal which seems to be of similar quality to the Rhodia pads. Just a delicious shade of violet.
