This is one of my new favourites for fountain pens. I have a formal italic custom grind from Mark Bacas, and I use Noodler's black X-feather or Noodlers Red Fox. The Tomoe River paper shows off the sharp line variations the best. I didn't realize that Red Fox is a nice shader until I tried it on the Tomoe River paper--shows the shading nicely. The paper is somewhat translucent, sort of like tracing paper. So, it is easy to use with graph paper or guidelines underneath. It's slightly off-white. It's subtle, you might not see the difference until you hold it up against a bright white copy-paper. The paper does have a right side and a wrong side. If you write on the wrong side, your ink will absorb and dry faster, and the line variation will not be as good. If you write on the right side, the ink will just sit on top of the paper right where you put it, without spreading or feathering. For slow-drying ink, I have to set my writing aside after I'm done and let it dry for 24 to 48 hours. For faster-drying ink, it can take just a few minutes to dry.

Love it. Soft smooth but no bleed through. I write the Morning Pages as Julia Cameron taught me. Though it also comes in cream I prefer white so that I can see the true colors of all my Goullet pen company inks.
