The Nib Creaper (also known as the "Standard Flex Pen") was the first fountain pen produced by Noodler's, introduced in 2010, and is Noodler's smallest and slimmest fountain pen. It features a steel flexible #2 nib and a twist piston mechanism. A small ink window shows how much ink is left in your pen. These pens are made from a celluloid derivative.

The Noodler's flex pens were designed for the hands-on tinkerer - they are made to be taken apart and adjusted. The nib and feed pull right out and can be adjusted for optimal performance. Don't be afraid to get a little ink on your fingers while you learn how to use this pen.

As a simple rule of thumb for writing with a flex pen, just apply slight pressure on your downstrokes, which will spread the tines and increase the line width, achieving that optimal line variation. Make sure to go slowly so that the ink can keep up with your writing. As with any flex pen, it just takes practice!

Due to the residual machining oils used when cutting the feeds for these pens, we highly encourage you to give the pen a good flush before use. We recommend any of the following options: distilled water, water with a touch of dish soap, a pre-packaged pen flush, or a solution of 10% clear ammonia to water. This should resolve most ink flow issues!

Who could complain for this price? August 27, 2014
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Sydney, Australia
So far a great pen.  It writes surprisingly well and I like that it's adjustable.  I can easily adapt it to the ink and paper combination.

Still getting the hang of unitising the flex.

Very Light and Comfortable August 4, 2014
Reviewer: Wendy Scott from Minden, ON Canada
I love the slender barrel and very light weight feel in my hand. The pen writes from very fine to medium, depending on pressure. I have Noodler's Liberty's Elysium blue ink, which flows well.

I am still learning since this is the first flex nib I have used, but I am pleasantly surprised. The nib writes smoothly; with a light touch, it is ultra fine and does not tire my hand when writing for long periods.

Noodler's Flexy Creaper Demonstrator July 22, 2014

Had to give this one a try in my search for a flexy variable line width without selling my arm and leg. This is one fine writing pen. Especially for my bank account.

Waterman Ideal Gold Nib July 1, 2014
Reviewer: Kenny
I bought this pen because I found a cracked, stinky Waterman fountain pen at an antique store for $10. The pen was unusable but the nib was in good condition (I knew the nib would fit this pen after watching Nathan's video linked on this page). After some cleaning the nib was good as new and it fits this pen perfectly!

I loaded the pen up with Pilot's standard black but I forgot that ink stains plastic. I remembered after writing for about ten minutes and quickly flushed out the pen. There is now a yellowish tinge inside. I try to convince myself it is vintage to take away my sadness.

I can't say how the original nib writes but the pen worked perfectly on the first try and only skips a beat when I play too fast. I do notice the slight odor on the pen, and on my hands after I use the pen. It's one of those odors where you keep on smelling it because you're curious to figure out what it is and not one of those odors which make you gag.

Nice but hard to set it. June 3, 2014
Reviewer: José Francisco San Martín Braile from Gandesa, Tarragona Spain
Very good pen for its price. But I can't avoid to get double lines sometimes.
