The Nib Creaper (also known as the "Standard Flex Pen") was the first fountain pen produced by Noodler's, introduced in 2010, and is Noodler's smallest and slimmest fountain pen. It features a steel flexible #2 nib and a twist piston mechanism. A small ink window shows how much ink is left in your pen. These pens are made from a celluloid derivative.

The Noodler’s flex pens were designed for the hands-on tinkerer - they are made to be taken apart and adjusted. The nib and feed pull right out and can be adjusted for optimal performance. Don’t be afraid to get a little ink on your fingers while you learn how to use this pen.

As a simple rule of thumb for writing with a flex pen, just apply slight pressure on your downstrokes, which will spread the tines and increase the line width, achieving that optimal line variation. Make sure to go slowly so that the ink can keep up with your writing. As with any flex pen, it just takes practice!

Due to the residual machining oils used when cutting the feeds for these pens, we highly encourage you to give the pen a good flush before use. We recommend any of the following options: distilled water, water with a touch of dish soap, a pre-packaged pen flush, or a solution of 10% clear ammonia to water. This should resolve most ink flow issues!

Noodler's piston fill April 28, 2013
Reviewer: Anonymous Person
This nib's flex is pretty remarkable. It doesn't railroad or dry out with x-feather, no matter how wide I go.

The pen body smells terrible though, and the smell gets on your hands. This will likely go away with time, but it is pretty bad out of the box. Other than that, a piston-fill flex nib at this price? It's almost a joke.

Good flex, weak clip April 17, 2013
Reviewer: Peter Truong from Houston, TX United States
The nib feels easier to flex compared to Ahab and smooth with a touch of feedback.  Clip feels weak and the end of does not look like it was folded properly; it snagged the pen case's elastic band.

Favorite sketching pen April 11, 2013
Reviewer: Casey L. from PA
This is a tool for the explorers of imagination.  Although it does require a little wiggle here & a tiny jiggle there, it is lots of fun to use! This is my first Noodle's pen and my second is on its way as I type this.  It seems as if the flex pens are built for those of us who want to get under the hood & be the mechanic.

Couldn't be happier April 8, 2013
Reviewer: Carl Wood from Coventry, RI United States
As usual the GPC gang insulated my order against the foulest shipping conditions - once I deciphered the code to unwrap my Noodler's Nib Creaper, inked it up and it performed out of the box - no issues in writing at all - a pleasure to write with all for fourteen dollars!  Fortunately I purchased this pen from GPC as I recently discovered a crack in the barrel of the pen, contacted GPC and was told "No problem, we can replace that for you!:  What more can you ask for.  Thanks again GPC Gang!
