The shading master May 5, 2013
Reviewer: Matt from Redmond, WA United States
You'll hear it over and over again, but Apache Sunset really is the ink for shading. The natural pooling of the ink on the downstrokes makes each letter look like it is made from a sunset, going from a rusty red to an almost yellow color.  Writes very smoothly, but this ink really shines in a pen that writes very wet or with substantial line variation. Of my pens, I prefer to use this one in the Nakmiki Falcon the most.

I find this a little too light to use for daily writing, journaling, or most letters, but it is a fascinating ink and a beautiful color. I am just not sure how often I would actually use it...thus the 4-star rating.

Incredible! May 4, 2013
Reviewer: Federico Martinez Jr. from Deep, Deep, Deep South Texas
I Love it!
Used it with both a medium and extra fine nib in my Lamy Safari and with a Jinhao x450 with a medium nib.
It doesn't matter for me.  It's just a beautiful ink!
Can't use it at work but I sure do use it for my journal and notes.
Fell in love with it and 54th Mass from 1st use.

Noodler's Apache Sunset April 1, 2013

As the name imply s sunset, red, orange, yellow which blends and shades depending on the saturation put down.  I am still hunting for the pen for this color, it is now residing in a Noodler's Nib Creaper.  It likes a flex nib to highlight the shading qualitys

Works well for me March 30, 2013
Reviewer: Michael Swisher from Charlotte, NC United States
I loaded my Apache ink in two Noodler's Creaper flex pens and use them now for both writing and drawing. The ink is close to scarlet and leans to the warm side of red. It was colose to what I saw on the Swab Shop (thanks, Goulet Pen).
In cross hatching, it exhibits a lot of variety of shading: pure cadmium light as a base color, muted toward terra cotta at its darkest and a bit more orange at the lighter end.
The ink is on the wet side and dries at an average rate (5–10 seconds depending on the paper. It has not skipped on me yet, not dried up in my pens.
I find it quite legible on both white and off-white papers. It bleeds through on common 16# copier paper, but not on better journal papers (such as Rhodia) common card stock or drawing paper. The same parameters apply to feathering.
