gift March 14, 2013
Reviewer: shams from Lawrence, KS United States
I bought this as a gift.  So I am not sure how it writes.  But it has the same nib as Lamy Safari, which I own and that is a pleasure to write with.  Very smooth.  The pen looks very sturdy and the color is attractive.  I am not sure how the metal grip section would feel for long writing.  I was happy to give this as a gift because it does look classy and is cheaper than other big names like Pelikan and Parker steel nib versions.

Perfection in a Pen March 7, 2013
Reviewer: Alyx Hanson from Chicago, IL United States
I bought this pen to replace my first fountain pen, which had some pretty severe dry-out issues. I went with the Imperial Blue because it's one of my favourite colours (NERD ALERT: it's the perfect Ravenclaw blue), and I have not been disappointed. The pen is BEAUTIFUL.

But I don't buy pens to have display pieces; I buy them to be used. The Lamy Studio has not disappointed there, either. The EF nib wrote smoothly out of the box, and has smoothed out even more with moderate use. The pen has some heft to it, which I like: I find the weight reassuring. It's also bulky enough that my hand doesn't cramp up with extended use, but not so thick as to be ungainly.

I can see where others have had trouble with the section being slippery. I have not had much of an issue with this, as my pen grip tends to hold it pretty steady. But I do know that if it becomes a problem, a new black, rubberized section can be ordered direct from Lamy.

Smooth Operator March 6, 2013
Reviewer: YSS from Dallas, TX United States
Writing with Lamy Studio Imperial Blue is smooth as butter. I got the EF nib, which lets the ink through freely yet in a very controlled manner. The nib isn't all too flexible, but I like it that way; makes my writing look more uniform. Some people have concerns over whether the chrome finish grip section will be too slippery. I tend to have bit of a sweaty hand, but I haven't had any complaints using the Lamy Studio. The pen has excellent weight without the cap, which I like because I usually don't post the cap. But even with the cap, it's not too incredibly heavy--though it does tilt the balance to the back of the pen a bit.

Exactly what I wanted it to be and more. March 5, 2013
Reviewer: D. Vizhnay from Queens, NY United States
I purchased this pen as a step up from the lower range pens I have previously bought. The weight is perfect and the nib glides across the paper. The aesthetics alone should be a reason to buy this pen! I'm really glad to have it in my collection.

Everything you ever wanted in a Safari but BETTER February 15, 2013
Reviewer: Jeff from United States
I love this pen. Writes exactly like a Safari except the extra heft makes it more comfortable writing for long periods of time. The cylindrical grip makes all the difference between the Safari and the Studio.
