Limited edition 50ml bottle of Rouge Hematite (scarlet) ink, released in 2010 in celebration of J. Herbin's 340th anniversary. Rouge translates to red, and Hematite is an iron ore that when pulverized into a powder, can be used as red pigment. With a dark red color and earthy tone, it is a reminder of the historic color of the Herbin logo and the sealing wax used by the members of the royal courts. This rich deep dye ink will bring brightness and majesty to all your writing.

Perfect September 11, 2014
Reviewer: Dale H from Georgia, USA
Very happy with this ink - too expensive to use as my daily ink, but great for special writing, and dark enough to avoid looking like you're grading a paper.

I find that this is best in my wet pens because then you see the metallic sheen.

Tip for this ink! August 16, 2014
Reviewer: Brandon K from Calgary, AB Canada
I wasn't seeing much gold in this ink at first. Even after a 5 minute shake, there still wasn't much. The gold sticks to the bottom of the bottle and shaking really doesn't do much. I took a plastic coffee stir stick (clean and rinse thoroughly), and had to physically scrape the gold off the bottom. Shook well again, and this completely changed this ink for me! So if you are dissapointed with the sheen, try this first! This is the third formulation of this ink, and it's amazing!

Really nice ink, though a little less gold sparkle than I had hoped.

Really like the color and gold flex.
Not sure which formulation (3rd?).
No nib/pen issues yet.

SHEENY! July 27, 2014
Reviewer: Olivia Cordray from Columbia, MO United States
I tried this out with my Noodler's acrylic Konrad Flex on Tomoe River paper (and later in my Rhodia Webbie). The sheen is INCREDIBLE. I had no idea what to expect. When the ink first goes down it is a rich, viscous, bloody crimson, but as it dried it turned a shimmery gold. If I turn the paper in the light it shifts from gold to crimson readily. I haven't looked at it in sunlight yet (it was late when I tested it). But I'm buying a full bottle ASAP!
