Limited edition 50ml bottle of Rouge Hematite (scarlet) ink, released in 2010 in celebration of J. Herbin's 340th anniversary. Rouge translates to red, and Hematite is an iron ore that when pulverized into a powder, can be used as red pigment. With a dark red color and earthy tone, it is a reminder of the historic color of the Herbin logo and the sealing wax used by the members of the royal courts. This rich deep dye ink will bring brightness and majesty to all your writing.

Wonderful Ink October 17, 2014
Reviewer: Tom Johnson from Lynchburg, VA United States
I read all the reviews on this ink and decided to try it. Inked up my TWSBI Mini with a 1.5 mm stub nib to see its shading. Just beautiful. I made sure to shake and stir the ink and quickly draw it out with an ink syringe. Injected it directly into the reservoir of the Mini. Reviews said to have air so you can shake the pen periodically to prevent settling in the reservoir, so I drew some air into the reservoir and started writing. Very nice ink, flowed well, impressive scarlet color, shades nicely. Dry, the gold shimmers in the areas of heavier ink. Easily seen with my Goulet lighted loupe. Behaved well on inkjet paper, even on cheap notebook paper that most inks bleed through. The gold shimmer shows even on the cheapest paper. Not for every day use, and I carry the pen upright in my pocket or laying flat so the gold will not settle to the feed. You can see the gold in the bottle settle in just a few seconds. Glad I got this ink. A great special use ink.

I anticipate using this ink for gift tags and holiday cards.  It should last my lifetime and my kids'.  Beautiful rich color with some variation.

J. Herbin Rouge Hematite 1670 Anniversary Ink September 25, 2014
Reviewer: Allen Shifrin from Bronx, NY United States
Nice wet flow, darkens a bit more than I would like when dry.  The "gold" flecks are plainly visible in some writing, less so in others.  The effect is not predictable.
Overall worth the price.

Perfect September 11, 2014
Reviewer: Dale H from Georgia, USA
Very happy with this ink - too expensive to use as my daily ink, but great for special writing, and dark enough to avoid looking like you're grading a paper.

I find that this is best in my wet pens because then you see the metallic sheen.

Tip for this ink! August 16, 2014
Reviewer: Brandon K from Calgary, AB Canada
I wasn't seeing much gold in this ink at first. Even after a 5 minute shake, there still wasn't much. The gold sticks to the bottom of the bottle and shaking really doesn't do much. I took a plastic coffee stir stick (clean and rinse thoroughly), and had to physically scrape the gold off the bottom. Shook well again, and this completely changed this ink for me! So if you are dissapointed with the sheen, try this first! This is the third formulation of this ink, and it's amazing!
