Extended Information:

Located in the Vosges region of France, Clairefontaine was established on the site of a 16th century paper mill. The Clairefontaine mill has been making paper since 1858 and stationery products since 1890. The River Meurthe supplies the water for Clairefontaine's Vosges mill. The water is so clean when it leaves their high performance biological treatment station that local people can fish, swim and boat downstream within sight of the manufacturing facility. The company is best known for being the first school stationery manufacturer in France. All Clairefontaine notebook paper is 90g, acid-free, pH neutral for archival quality.

I purchased the green clothbound notebook and have really enjoyed the way my fountain pen glides over the legendary Clairefontaine paper.
I have the older non-elastic band journals, and I love them! The elastic band would just make them better. Buying from GouletPens was a great experience - personal letter from Brian, with a wax seal! My kids liked that part.
GouletPen has the best price on these journals, too, so you might as well stop the comparison shopping and click Buy.

My search for a "vintage" looking notebook ended with the Clairefontaine Clothbound Notebook. The journals have a strong binding and smooth paper. The cover is sturdy and the overall design of the notebooks is a nod towards the classic composition notebook with a true essence of quality and craftsmanship. I look forward to filling up many of these notebooks in the future.
