The pen writes very nicely. The gold nib does what I hoped it would do: create a flexible and satisfying writing experience. That said, the look of the body of the pen is...somewhat disappointing. Yes, I saw on the website the closeup photos of it, so I knew what I was getting. Once in hand, though, it looks kinda like a cheap semi-clear plastic. A lovely color, but it just doesn't look like it should've cost +$200. The gold trim, yes, I get that; it's lovely. And, again, I acknowledge I'm paying for the gold nib. It's just the overall feeling of value I like to have a little better than this, for spending that much (quite a lot for me) on a pen.

I've been wanting a 3776 for a while now. This pen is beautiful to look at and of course it writes like a dream. No skipping or hard starts. Thanks Platinumand Goulet

I received it promptly! In safe and perfect condition! But I haven't put ink in it yet, so I don't have any answers yet!! I will probably replace the (black?) ink in the cartridge with one of my bottled inks. I do have empty cartridges for this brand, and filled ones, but I haven't decided what color to use! Do you want to send this email back in about a month?!!! I do have white (orange ink) and green with green ink, and quickly bought this one, to get another ultra extra fine nib!! I purchased the ultra extra fine & the pen writes like a dream. The nib appears to be finer than the EFs I have in Namiki, Sailor, & Parker (and certainly Pelikan). I tend not to be fond of transparent fountain pens, but this appeared fairly opaque for a demonstrator. I have a dark red Namiki and I prefer it's appearance to the Bourgogne Platinum. This is simply a matter of preference however. My biggest (and only) complaint involves comfort. When I hold the pen to write, the sharp edges above & below the part of the pen's body onto which the cap screws cuts into my fingers. I will try to attach a photo to compare the smoothness of the Namiki with the Platinum's much more prominent edges. I wish they had not designed the pen this way. It writes finer than the Namiki and so comparison in how they write is difficult. However, even as fine as it is, the Platinum never skips. It's almost perfect.
