My Favorite June 7, 2012
Reviewer: PW from NC United States
I have had a few fountain pens over the years, including 3 Vanishing Points. I decided to sell off most of what I wasn't using last year. This Raden VP was almost put up for sale, but I just couldn't part with it. Now, as my daily writer, I'm so glad that I kept it.

Many will hate me... But I generally use cartridges in this pen. It is so convenient, and the Pilot blue ink is water resistant -- and happens to be one of favorite blues. Also, Pilot cartridges tend to last longer without drying out. I sometimes refill an empty cartridge or the converter with Sailor or other blue inks, but they will dry in the pen after just a couple of days of no use. Not the case with the Pilot cartridge ink. This pen really does love the Pilot ink.

A beautiful modern writing instrument. I wouldn't part with it!

Smart and Beautiful May 30, 2012

Vanishing Points are practical, nifty, quality pens which have always meant a lot of bang for the buck.

Their nibs are a little on the stiff side as gold nibs go,so don't expect too much character in the way of thicks and thins.  On the other hand they're VERY smooth.

Like many Japanese nibs, nominal sizes tend be narrower than someone used to American or European pens might expect.  The Pilot Fine, for instance, is closer to "extra fine;" while Medium is more "medium/fine."

Because the "vanishing point' is so well constructed this is a very safe pen to carry in a pocket, purse or briefcase.  And because the section doesn't get soaked when the closed pen is jostled, you don't need to worry about your fingers getting stained.

The Raden finish separates this from the common run of wonderfully practical Vanishing Points, adding beauty and luxury.  Well worth the price.

Almost too pretty to use. But since it writes so wonderfully I will keep it inked and in use.

Like a shimmering pool of water June 30, 2011
Reviewer: KeaneBean from Florida
I really like the raden finish. In your hand it looks like a firework against a dark night or a lake with moon light shimmering off it. As a joke, one co-worker said it reminded them of the BP oil spill as it hit the beaches of Florida during the night. The barrel is wide, the clip is placed where i usually rest my index finger so that took some adjustment. The nib, it is so good! For such a thin strip of metal it sure does impart a lot of character and feeling due to the 14k gold. The converter holds a couple drops of ink so i use a cartridge filled with a syringe of my favorite ink.
