The Nib Creaper (also known as the "Standard Flex Pen") was the first fountain pen produced by Noodler's, introduced in 2010, and is Noodler's smallest and slimmest fountain pen. It features a steel flexible #2 nib and a twist piston mechanism. A small ink window shows how much ink is left in your pen. These pens are made from a celluloid derivative.

The Noodler’s flex pens were designed for the hands-on tinkerer - they are made to be taken apart and adjusted. The nib and feed pull right out and can be adjusted for optimal performance. Don’t be afraid to get a little ink on your fingers while you learn how to use this pen.

As a simple rule of thumb for writing with a flex pen, just apply slight pressure on your downstrokes, which will spread the tines and increase the line width, achieving that optimal line variation. Make sure to go slowly so that the ink can keep up with your writing. As with any flex pen, it just takes practice!

Due to the residual machining oils used when cutting the feeds for these pens, we highly encourage you to give the pen a good flush before use. We recommend any of the following options: distilled water, water with a touch of dish soap, a pre-packaged pen flush, or a solution of 10% clear ammonia to water. This should resolve most ink flow issues!

New to flex March 13, 2013
Reviewer: Jeff Duce from Maple Valley, WA United States
This is my first flex pen and so far it seems great.  I haven't had to adjust the nib at all, just have to keep it nice and slow.  Seems to be a perfect starter pen for me!

Fantastic! August 23, 2012
Reviewer: Andrew Haynes from Yuma, AZ United States
I purchased this wonderful pen several weeks ago, and have now written some thirty pages with it.
Its nib is relatively smooth, and I have yet to encounter any skipping problems, although when using it to it's full, flex, capability I have encountered some "rail-roading".  This problem is easily remedied by proper ink pairing, and adjustment of writing speed.
The pen posts  quite nicely, and is very pleasant to write with.  I have written mostly on heavier paper (90g +).  It bleeds through most Moleskine paper (85g I believe).
Over all, an outstanding pen!  Functions flawlessly, beautiful line variation, and just makes writing letters or journaling even more enjoyable.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

Slightly disappointing but still great February 27, 2011
Reviewer: SBell from TX United States
I am a huge fan of flexible nibs for dip pens but have never owned a fountain pen touting a flex nib outside of a Namiki Falcon.  The Noodler's flex is an affordable option and writes well as a normal pen, with the occasional skipping, depending on the ink.  As a flex nib, it disappoints me because I write with a very light hand and must be intentional about applying extra pressure to bring out its flex properties.  In addition, I found a lot of variation in the amount of flex achieved across the 4 pens I purchased: 2 were very stiff, 1 moderately stiff, and the last just stiff.  :-)  This pen is a great flex for the money and if you are willing to work at making it flex.
