The Nib Creaper (also known as the "Standard Flex Pen") was the first fountain pen produced by Noodler's, introduced in 2010, and is Noodler's smallest and slimmest fountain pen. It features a steel flexible #2 nib and a twist piston mechanism. A small ink window shows how much ink is left in your pen. These pens are made from a celluloid derivative.

The Noodler’s flex pens were designed for the hands-on tinkerer - they are made to be taken apart and adjusted. The nib and feed pull right out and can be adjusted for optimal performance. Don’t be afraid to get a little ink on your fingers while you learn how to use this pen.

As a simple rule of thumb for writing with a flex pen, just apply slight pressure on your downstrokes, which will spread the tines and increase the line width, achieving that optimal line variation. Make sure to go slowly so that the ink can keep up with your writing. As with any flex pen, it just takes practice!

We do our best to photograph the pens to show how they will appear in person, but due to the nature of the material, expect some variation in the pattern from what you see here. But hey, that just makes each pen unique!

Due to the residual machining oils used when cutting the feeds for these pens, we highly encourage you to give the pen a good flush before use. We recommend any of the following options: distilled water, water with a touch of dish soap, a pre-packaged pen flush, or a solution of 10% clear ammonia to water. This should resolve most ink flow issues!

Noodler's pen April 13, 2013
Reviewer: Heidi Erb from Gatineau, QC Canada
I find the feed very slow to start and I frequently have to use the piston to force ink onto the nib to start writing.  It works fairly well once it is going however.

Love this Flex Pen February 23, 2013
Reviewer: Scot Worswick from Mountainside, NJ United States
For the price this is a great pen.  I would highly recommend that you thoroughly clean and flush the pen before it's first inking, in order to remove any residual oils or debris left  from the manufacturing process. Once that is completed the pen writes well, with little to no issues.

Not my favorite for writing January 25, 2013
Reviewer: Curtis Brown from catskill, NY United States
It may not be my favorite for writing as I like a smoother writing pen, but I love it for drawing. Works well with most inks I've tried it in although I did have to experiment with the nib and feed to get it to write the way I wanted it to. It's still a bit scratchy for me to write with but if you like the thought of a flex nib...come on it's cheap as dirt.

It looks a little "cheap" but it does not feel or write "cheaply" (if that makes sense). I can see why some people absolutely swear by these pens, they are fun to experiment with.

As a bonus (did you guys do that on purpose?) The Lapis inferno matches my new Clairefontaine notebook.

Beginner's Luck December 28, 2012
Reviewer: Tracy Spenst from Langdon, ND United States
I say "Beginner's Luck" because trying to choose a fountain pen as a "newbie" can be overwhelming.  I don't know what kind of nib, etc. I want or what difference it makes.  Well, this one is a winner for beginners like me!  This pen writes beautifully.  The flow is smooth without blotting or blotching, even for a beginner.  The pen was actually gift for my daughter, but I'll be ordering myself one very soon.  Both she and my son (I got him an Ahab Flex) quickly figured out how to fill the pens and find them easy to use.  I highly recommend this pen for someone just starting out with fountain pens.  (And if you're wondering why bother with one instead of a Bic, I think I could write for hours with one of these without any hand strain.)

Great Pen December 10, 2012
Reviewer: Robyn Watts from West Pennant Hills, NSW Australia
I do a lot of shorthand this pen is fantastic.  It is good to hold so your hand doesn't get tired too quickly and the nib flexes well.   Very comfortable for normal writing as well.  I will buy more to keep at work and home and as spares.
R. Watts.
