The Konrad flex pen was introduced in early 2012 - it is smaller than the Ahab, but larger than the Nib Creaper. It features a steel flexible #6 nib and a twist piston mechanism with a blind cap. The Konrad is made of a celluloid derivative and is technically biodegradable and formed from a "renewable resource".

The Noodler's flex pens were designed for the hands-on tinkerer - they are made to be taken apart and adjusted. The nib and feed pull right out and can be adjusted for optimal performance. Don't be afraid to get a little ink on your fingers while you learn how to use this pen. We recommend watching our video (below) to see how heat-setting the nib/feed can help improve flow issues.

As a simple rule of thumb for writing with a flex pen, just apply slight pressure on your downstrokes, which will spread the tines and increase the line width, achieving that optimal line variation. Make sure to go slowly so that the ink can keep up with your writing. As with any flex pen, it just takes practice!

Due to the residual machining oils used when cutting the feeds for these pens, we highly encourage you to give the pen a good flush before use. We recommend any of the following options: distilled water, water with a touch of dish soap, a pre-packaged pen flush, or a solution of 10% clear ammonia to water. This should resolve most ink flow issues!

Konrad Flex - Best value on the market February 13, 2014
Reviewer: CJR from Leesburg, VA United States
I bought the Fleur De Lis Blue Tortoise model last year in my first order from Goulet. The pen is very attractive and can fit in any office environment. The supplied flex nib was nice and the free Noodler's firm nib was good. On my next order with Goulet I bought the Goulet #6 Medium nib and replaced the nib in my Konrad. Wow! The Goulet nib is perhaps the smoothest nib on any of my pens, including multiple Pelikans in the hundreds of dollars price range. The medium Goulet nib was so amazing, I bought a Goulet Fine nib in my latest order. Double wow! The Konrad coupled with the Goulet Fine nib and Noodler's 54th Massachusetts ink is one combination I can't put down. It makes me want to write, scribble, doodle, anything to feel the smooth flow of ink on the paper.

Now I'm hooked. I can't bear to clean the pen and try another ink. Looks like I'm going to have to order another Konrad and a Goulet Fine nib so I can try out my other inks that are begging me to take them for a write.

Konrad December 12, 2013

I was drawn to the brown and blue of the pen and it is very beautiful. Only drawback was the fragile plastic inside of my pen for the piston. More than likely I am to blame for that though so I still recommend this pen.

I'll be your customer again in the future. A very nice pen, but
I decided to replace the pen with the other 1.1 and now I have problems with continuity of flow. What to do?

Greetings and many thanks
Rodolfo

Love the color! November 26, 2013

I've always like the Konrad but decided to put a different nib in this to change it up a bit. I went with the Monteverde 1.1 mm black nib that you guys have available for purchase on the site and it is a great combination.

goulet pens/ noodlerskonran September 9, 2013

My experience with the  Goulet pen co is outstanding , fast service to the UK ,about 8 days from order.
I find the Noodlers pen just fine , it will be mostly used for sketching.
I would say its worthwhile following the Goulet pen videos on cleaning before use and nib adjustment.
A spare Noodlers pen feed would be very useful to allow further fine tuning of ink flow without wrecking the whole pen.
