  Noodler's Burma Road Brown (3oz)
Noodler's Burma Road Brown (3oz)

3oz (90ml) bottle of Noodler's Burma Road Brown fountain pen ink.

Noodler's Ink obtained some dated, sealed, and viable vintage area inks with extremely patriotic labels - many referenced "V-mail", a term that seems to have begun in WW I. These were dated from 1939 to 1945 - and of course began in earnest after Dec. 7th, 1941 with the patriotic WW II themes.

With those inks as models and a little bit of reverse engineering and close modern replication, the originals come alive again in Noodler's own "V-mail" ink series. The Army Air Corp. and some Royal Airforce planes are silhouetted on the labels.

In terms of vintage style/conventional water resisting inks - the V-mail ink series remains the best value for modern ink customers on the market today.

Ambiguous but cool! April 26, 2013
Reviewer: Susan from Houston
Sort of a military no-color - not green, not brown, or gray or black, but could pass for any of those, depending on what you want to see. I like it! Seems on the wet side, very smooth and saturated. Love the label.

Very Interesting Color February 24, 2013
Reviewer: Jim from Illinois
I picked up a sample of this ink because of the unusual color. It's a mix between a green, brown, and grey. It's tough to nail down an exact color. It does have quite a bit of saturation, which isn't really for me, but someone who appreciates that look will definitely appreciate it.

Great Color! February 9, 2013
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from CO United States
This color is not a straight black...more of a dark camo green. It has just enough of a tint to make you want to look closer at the paper. I absoutely love writing in this color.

Burma Road Brown February 4, 2013
Reviewer: Thomas Hillis from Wayne, ME United States
I got this because is had an OD cast rather than brown, much suited to anything related to military.  I happen to like OD.  Excellent flowing ink.

Expressive Olive-Brown February 3, 2013
Reviewer: Andrew C from California
Was deciding on whether to go for a more chocolate brown or something a bit different, and the swab of Burma Road Brown spoke to me (as did the label). I've used it in a Noodler's Ahab flex as well as my Lamy Al-Star F, and it behaves well in both pens and on a variety of paper. Dry time is fairly quick, and BRB has great shading properties which make me excited to use it as a drawing ink.

The color is definitely interesting--in some light, and on some paper, it's quite brown; on others, it's very olive. With a really wet pen, it looks like a slightly faded olive-black.

Bottom line, if you're looking for a slightly different brown that behaves well, shades nicely, and isn't so out there as to not be usable for daily writing, BRB is a pretty good choice.
