I have been lucky because I have a friend that worked for a printer here in my town, and so I had lined very nice smooth paper that rivals clairefontaine.
I would make my own notebooks, but it was all 8x11 and I wanted something more portable.
I was ordering the ink samples and thought I would try the duo. It has been great. I use one as a to do list for my boss to make sure she and I are on the same page.
I use the other one as a journal and for my goals. The paper is great, they look good, and they take my fountain pen well. I have used a mystery pen from Benton Clay and a Waterman reflex with Quink. Both have worked very well with no issues.
Highly recommend the product.

Personally, I prefer the Life. Unplugged notebooks with stitched binding. The staples are just not as pleasant to me. Of course, these thinner books are a bit more portable than the thicker sewn ones, so pick what fits your needs.
Obviously, this is a Clairfontaine product, so paper quality is amazing.

Hardworking little notebooks |

I'm already on my second order of these notebooks (both sizes). They slip right into my handbag, and like my keys and wallet, I never leave home without them. The quality of the paper is superb - I'm a pen person and have used them with every kind and color pen. They're also really cool looking, as my teenage kids are drawn to them - I've already had to give one away to my daughter, and am now purchasing another set in order to give one to my son. I use the larger size for everyday journal/poetry writing, and the smaller one for jotting down ideas. If you need a sturdy everyday notebook you can't go wrong with the "Life. Unplugged" Duo. Flexible, versatile and durable! Your laptop/PC/smartphone will be envious.
