Lamy Studio Fountain Pen - Black is rated 4.7143 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Sleek and Understated Fountain Pen For starters, I didn't realize I was a pen aficionado until I ordered this Black (matte) Lamy Studio fountain pen, and realized I needed to make room for it among my other cool pens. I had not bought a fountain pen in many, many years. I didn't even remember what it felt like to write with one. As soon as I inked up with some Diamine Oxblood, I was hooked. The Lamy Studio (fine) writes smoothly and despite its weight, is easy on the hand/grip. The ink capacity in the converter is generous, too. I've been writing a lot lately, so I've had to refill at least twice! If you've been on the fence about Lamy Studio, take the plunge. It's not super cheap, but it won't break the bank either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glides Across the Page Like Silk I have many fountain pens and use them on a daily basis - journal entries in a personal as well as a separate professional journal, taking notes and such - much of the latter to back up and supplement longer, more formal pieces I write or edit on the computer. This Lamy Studio pen is already one of my favorites. Unlike another Lamy I have (Safari) the EF nib on the Lamy Studio actually writes as an extra fine fountain pen should write. (My EF Lamy Safari writes silky smooth - albeit more like an F or even an M). But my focus here is the Lamy Studio. I would prefer that, when closed, the cap would fit snugly and not turn, but that is my personal preference and qualm, and the qualm is small indeed. All my life (like from the first grade on) I have had a fountain pen "fetish" (or perhaps I ought to admit that I almost regard them as totems, as icons, of a sort) and this Lamy Studio ranks as more of my favorites. I may add another of a divergent color - as if I need it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great gift! The Lamy Studio is a very clean, elegant pen and easy to use with the cartridge or converter. The option of changing nibs later on is also great. A good entry point and a great gift.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hefty And Professional I love this pen. This was my first pen over the $50 mark. It has a good heft to it. Not heavy though. The clip is a very nice feature since I mainly use this pen at work and keep it in my dress shirt pocket. The cap has a very nice clicking action when closing or taking off the cap. It has the same action when posting the cap as well. I am not a fan of posting the cap on this pen though. It feels too back heavy posted for my tastes. I also like the matte black finish as well. I have used it everyday for two weeks and I have not seen any signs of wear yet. The chrome feed section does not feel slippery either. I was worried about that when I ordered it. I ordered mine with the EF nib. The nib looks more like a fine on paper. Overall I am very impressed and I am planning on ordering the blue one as well. I do not feel any regret at all over the pen itself. I would have actually paid more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another Excellent Lamy Pen I'm a big fan of Lamy. Their pens are durable, affordable and reliable. My first pen a few years ago was a Lamy Vista and I have bought several more Lamy pens since then. The Studio has excellent weight and balance. It is finished exquisitely and looks like a pen that is far more expensive than it is. It uses the standard Lamy Converter that is available for so many other Lamy pens. The nib is a classic Lamy nib found on the Safari, Vista, Al-Star and several others. I didn't love the chrome section as I found it to be a fingerprint magnet and a little slick. I ordered a black section direct from Lamy USA and it makes the pen far more comfortable for me. If you're looking for a good daily writer that won't break the bank and offers a little more class than your Vista, Safari or Al-Star, the Studio is just the ticket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! I used this as one of my daily writers everyday and i have loved everything about it! I have noticed that with a lot of blue inks, it has a hard time starting up... but i rarely ever use blue inks so it doesnt affect me! and if it affects you, its not a huge problem! The grip isnt slippery at all, so thats not an issue either. Highly Reccomend!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A little too heavy for me. I hoped to jump in to fountain pens big time by going with an expensive first pen and this was it. I thought it was a little heavy and have had issues with flow keeping up with my pace on a fine nib. It still feels solid, but I have bought two safaris since then and love them more.
